It's not a matter of will you ever go to bed and forget to shut your RO/DI unit off it's just when

Put tiles in if you redo the floor and yes get the aos installed.
Sorry for the water issue. I did that many times too but it was not as bad as the floor is tiles and later I moved the whole thing to the back yard.....

I do this all the time...after 6 years in the hobby. Luckily the room it is in has an unfinished concrete floor and a drain in it.

What do you mean? Waste line popped out?
I was filling the ATO and water change water, walk away for a few and overflowed the washer with the waste water from the RO/DI.

Not a bad idea at all.
I make 14 gallons at a shot which is about 7 hours for my system.
I may even back up the shut off valve with timer in case the shut off fails.

Did that Friday night, I have an auto shut off, but the RO water was above the salt water mixing brute trash can and the ball valve connecting them didn't fully close. Don't buy cheap ball valves! Wasn't terrible damage, but the click together flooring is terrible for water damage. I want to get a DC Solenoid at some point, but another water sensing monitor is in plans for next order.
