Ill take an updated pic later today as the one I posted is a bit old. I do run carbon in a media bag in my filtration compartment as well, the false wall allows me to hide everything, making my HOBs less obvious. I use an Apex but thats just to make my life easier. Your tank awesome and I love the clam.

Thank you. Your tank looks great! I don't use any filtration system..just those mentioned above-HOBs, lol! I do 5% water change every 2 weeks...water is clear, all parameters are fine-fingers crossed! [emoji51] I hope in the near future I could add new tank equipment/s.

When I get home I'll take and send some pictures. I love that someone finally open this thread. It would be very interesting to hear everybody's filtration.

I am also using a Jebao DP 4 doser for BRS two part and use an Avast ATO with their Diaphram pump which can easily push water from the floor to into my tank.

I really enjoy my tank but on my next build I am going to use a sump for sure. I have been able to make this work but a sump will allow me to have a larger fuge and more efficient skimmer. As I mentioned the false wall in my SeaClear gives my tank a clean look, I can hide my HOBs, heaters, probes, media bags and fuge. So if you are set on a sumpless system a false wall can definitely help. I feel the most important think for a sumpless tank is having a good HOB skimmer and regular water changes. My skimmer is rated by the Reef Octopus to handle up to 200 gallons but realistically its just managing my 90g. Even then the rectangular body of the skimmer is not the most efficient design so it pulls out tea like skimmate, not sludge. I do 15% biweekly water changes.

This is in a large shop so please excuse the mess. Two hang on the back petsmart special topfin 75gallon (each) that I jam full of polyester tedybear stuffing. Two remora aquaC skimmers one on each end of the tank. And a very large DIY 2gallon canister filter made from a igloo Gatorade container and a return pump. Filler with bio Media, crush live rock and about 4 inches of polyester teddy bear stuffing. 20% water change every other week. I top off by hand ever day and dose by hand every other day.

Thanks guys, I have been wanting to start a tank up for awhile now (been out of hobby for 30+yrs) and could use some knowledge on a little less expensive route. Hope to see more, again thanks.
Honestly if you are doing anything but a nano tank I would recommend using a sumped system. We have been able to make this work but it's not the best option. If you do decide to go sump-less invest in a good oversized hob skimmer.
