I think the mud is supposed to be put in very gently after water is already in the tank. I'm not to sure though I've only seen videos onit.

I'm sure it will settle out. You can always do a few large water changes and siphon the silt out the sand

Well still looks as bad as it did lastnight. Should I scoop mud out?
And as for noise it's just a matter of adjusting the valves?

adjust valves for noise. not sure on the muddy water. Start a thread and ask others. I'm sure the answers are here on R2R

Evening Gent's , Got a question about your synergy overflow. Ok so when I turn off the return pump, The tank only drops about 3/8 of an inch ! Have You had the same experience? I think it should be about the same for all of them.
I ask because I'm planning a 180 build and will use the large synergy. I like them that much ! Anyway I need to consider how much water will dump into the sump . so I can build it tall enough .Thanks !

Going through the diatom stage now can't wait to get the stress off. Have a leaking 20gal.long on a particle board stand...basically ticking crash waiting to happen

Ohhh also forgot I closed off the gap in glass in the fug...return pump chamber would gurgle
every other day it seemed...Really making me wish I stuck to my original plan of usiong a 40b as well
for sump. But next tank will definately have a breeder for sump....

I think the formula for calculating gallons is L x W x H /231= how many extra gallons you need in sump so it does not overflow.
