I like shadows; they add depth and contrast and that is where I put lower light corals. Shadows also offer a calm place for fish that are looking for a nice quite comfortable hidey spot.

...probably throw a sun coral in there under a ledge. I do not think that is a bad thing. I agree that nothing piecemealed together looks great or like it was meant to go together. The reefbrite mounts are probably the best option right now to kind of look good.

Will that depth given to the tank include lighting? As in contrast and shadows? That thing people seam to forget about reciently?

...the point of keeping a mixed reef. I want high light and low light corals in my mixed reef. I have not personally used an AP9X but I do have two AP700 fixtures over a six foot tank and successfully ran one AP700 over a four foot mixed reef with power to spare.
