Those gobies are beautiful!
They're nice and they do have character. Dart around a lot and are very peaceful among themselves and with other fish from what I noticed. I have 3 in my 10G and that group has grown relatively well.

Did you purchase those at LFS or online. They look great.
online - https://www.liveaquaria.com/

I find it's easier to get hard to find or those less carry fish are better online. With LiveAquaria they will alert you when certain fish are available. With LFS, it's too much a hit and more than most miss even if you make a request.

@REPOWER Thanks for sharing the pics. Your tank looks great. Those candy cane looks huge. The bridge adds a interesting perspective.

I would agree aquacape would likely change based on coral growth. Hoping I will be wiser this time around and more selective on what I put in (i.e. consideration for coral growth pattern in mind in terms of placement and order of addition).

@reef-rc Thanks - following along. I’m curious how the Nuvoskim performs with a good amount of bioload since the Cadlights skimmer currently on the tank is on life support. The inhabitants enjoy eating so I feed kind of heavy and need the floss replacement every 3 days, skimmer and biopellets to export the nutrients. Looking forward to your next update.

It's about 3 months and progress have been good. This the latest:

1st Coral:
  • Hammer
    • Earlier today I moved my 4 branching hammer from the other fusion 20 over here. One big reason I had chosen this as the first coral is because it's getting too big for the other fusion. It's tentacles have been stinging a few surrounding corals. 2nd it's a pretty hardy coral and will appreciate more water movement which this tank is intended to have.
IMG_20190129_215444.jpg

  • Heliofungia
    • I also have a relatively large heliofungia in the 10G tank that need a new home so I plan to move that over here within the next few weeks once I see how the hammer settles in first. It's sweeping tentacles are long

Fish:
  • 1 Yellow Banded Possum Wrasse
    • Added last week.
  • Snails (a couple of trochus, cerith and nerite)
    • Added last week to help with the algae that is now growing. The tail spot blenny looks to be picking at the algae too now
Existing inhabitants:
  • 4 greenbanded goby - small
  • 1 tail spot blenny
Fish-wise I think this is it for now. I am looking for the tank to stabilize with the new bio-load. I do plan to add 1-2 fish a few months down the road. Currently looking for something that is not so shy and yet still peaceful fish.

Lighting:
  • Lighting has been on anywhere from 4-6 hrs. As of today I hooked up the Kessil A360W-E Tuna Blue to the existing Spectral controller that also control Fuval Evo lighting for a full 10 hrs cycle. Currently has it set for 14 day acclimation just to slowly ez into it.

So today I figured I would dropped by the LFS and JUST ;) grab some snails for CUC. Simple plan right?

Guess what I walked out with? Oh yeah...I got snails too ;Joyful

  • Bubble Gum Montipora & Appleberry Montipora
    • I like these as they are the branching type. I had to quickly acclimate these into the tank and ran out for errands. Will get a better shot later this evening.

Amazing additions. That digi is one of my favs
They're great addition. Unfortunately it's not for this tank at this time. I got the snails for this tank but the monti are for the other tank until I am confident this tank is ready.

I'll post a few pics there. The bubble gum looks awesome.

It's Gear Saturday! o_O

Earlier on Friday and today I had received a few new gears. I got these earlier than I had planned for a few reasons.
IMG_20190202_144338.jpg IMG_20190202_150735.jpg
  • MP10WQD - price of ecotech gears recently went up. I got these before it went into effect. 2nd - I am replacing the Tunze Turbelle Nanostream 6040 pump. I like the controlability of the MP10 pump when combined with reeflink.
  • Spectral Controller X - controller for the A360W-E
  • Hanna Salinity Tester - just because I am too lazy to use the refractometer ;Facepalm. Compare to the refractometer or the Milwaukee digital seawater refractometer, this thing is so quick and simple. For example, I plan to do a water change today and needed to check the salinity and temperature of the saltwater mix before I start. I just dipped the tester in and ...BAM...i got confirmation of both in seconds! It's also convenient to quickly test the main tank as well without cleaning the unit to ensure both are at the same parameters.

i would recommend it if you do not already have a refractometer and/or digital seawater refractometer. This will be my primary checker going forward as it's just so easy, portable and quick to use.

Continue - It's Gear Saturday! o_O

The remaining gears arrived today. This pretty much complete the equipment list I had planned for the tank.
IMG_20190204_115602.jpg

The hammer I placed in about a week ago seems to be doing very well; the additional flow makes the coral look great within this tank. All the fish are also doing well.

I plan to move a few corals to here in the coming weeks. I plan to move the heliofungia by end of week. Then potentially the elegance coral over the next few weeks (I am a little concern this tank has too much flow for it however...will see once the other MP10 is in).

I might have to blame him for when I pick one up too. @reef-rc is there much of a difference between the bubble gum and forest fire? Even bagged up that piece is awesome.

ha...someone has to take one for the team! ;Punch:D

here's an earlier pic I took from when I placed it in the tank
IMG_20190131_210114.jpg IMG_20190131_210240.jpg

The best description I found was this:
  • Forest fire - Orange polyps, green body throughout.
  • Bubblegum - Orange polyps, blue body, but growth tips have have green to it.
If you look closer at the pic above of the bubble gum, you see the green on the top (growth) and blue body. Outside of the that they look so similar; hard to tell honestly.

Example of someone doing a comparisonn on R2R I found:
Forest Fire on the left, Bubble Gum on the right
