I’m guessing the native coral collectors are on reef2reef seeing how much these corals are going for and charging a butt load to export them because of it

While a lot of people do have things in grow out, they do actually take time to grow. Torches don't go from 1 head to multiple, fraggable heads overnight. If supply outpaces demand, then they can still be "scarce" even if 100 people are growing them out.

I do agree that the torch name (and price) game is out of control, but it's still not as bad as zoas. :D

Im selling locally some green indo torches for $40 so if your in Iowa i can hook you up :)

I feel like other vendors are seeing other vendors sell X torch for Y ammount so they are price matching hoping they will get sold. And hence its a chain reaction. Then Z vendor will try to push the limit of how much they can charge people to the max.

Once people loose interest then price will plumet.
But then its just a never ending cycle. Like NFT lol. Its basically nothing lol.

You mean you don’t want to finance your torch? If your credit is good enough you could probably get a sweet interest rate! Only $104 a month. That’s more than what my wife’s current car payment is lol.
These prices are silly… but anyone willing to pay it is probably a little silly too…

yup another tulip/pokémon/ty doll craze….and just as stupid…..earlier this century torches, frogspawns and hammer were not only the most common corals but the cheapest…typically about 25-30 bucks…even with inflation that’s cheap .l.then came photoshop

You can go online and find these corals but good luck seeing them in an LFS if you live outside CA. I was at a swap last weekend with 30+ vendors. There was 1 holy grail with no lineage. Most others were fresh imports and not hot looking. I took almost 40 frags of nice looking torches I have and sold out, but they've grown in my tank for years. Thinking there are hot euphyllia everywhere is not true.
