Update on Water Parameters (Some Improvements)

44259999125_935254c2e2_n.jpg

-> ALK & MAG is stable
-> CALC overshot
a bit when I was mucking around with MAG while MAG Kit Was OLD/BAD.
-> The Nitrate has dropped mostly due to EXTRA WATER CHANGES.
-> The Phosphate the same reason, put I have used small baggy of PHOSGUARD.
-> Potassium improved
because My test kit it new (Accurate Measurement)
-> Temp is slowly rising.....
Doing this on purpose (to Raise TANK TEMP to 79.5-80)

NOT a POTM (but the Flame Hawk is COOL)

I'm really intrigued by the Hawk Fish. Kind of behaves like my Long Nose Hawk (hops from Place to Place)

But he is Beautiful.

43394209440_76210856ff_z.jpg

Very friendly. Looks back at you with rotating eyes.

You gotta admit....He Looks like the RED ANGRY BIRD.
43396262770_bc5f5e9ecf_t.jpg

And has quite the appetite. So will certainly grow big.
He's already learned the Feeder is where food comes from. (Pretty Obvious from Photo)

TANK is CLICKING into PLACE ( All Frags Today SAMPLE PHOTO)

Not sure what is causing this (temp increase, Stability, or just Age), but I noticed Lots of PE today (more than Even yesterday)

I just took these Photo's as a sample of how things are.

FRAGS are not SPEED GROWING, but certainly getting more Rich in Colors, and PE.

Great collection Wally. The frags are looking better every day.
They are almost as colorful as your posts.

Funny but true. (I do like colors in my Posts too).
Now I just have to be careful not to mess anything up in the STABLE tank.

You've done a lot! I haven't gotten notification of your thread in awhile and saw a bunch has happened, glad everything is getting into control for you!

I've also heard a lot of people love hawkfish in pairs, and that a pair hang around together all day and do adorable dopey stuff... wouldn't know myself, I have too many small gobies for one :(

Interesting. This guy is so cool, but he hides a lot, except when I pass by. Straight to the feeder when I do.
If two means more apperances, and more fun activites, that would be really amazing.
First I'd have to find another one. Never seen one before this guy.
2nd, he is a PIG (no Angy Bird... Pun Intended).....for eating. Would really raise the BioLoad in a tank.
But two in Frag tank might be possible.
Let's see how one does. First!

Yep. I like around 20-25 no3, everyone said I'm crazy but now that BRS showed that WWC likes the same parameters i'm sure it'll be the norm soon. A little matrix in the overflow section and you'll be fine without much hassle. I do feel you need some fish to properly give everything corals really need. And some big meat eating predators are great.

I've always thought a small dwarf lionfish would eating silversides would be the perfect fish for a frag tank haha.

Which BRS video showed that? I'd like to watch what else they said. (NOT to start chasing number, but a feel for my general High End Limit Targets)
I have a Whole 1Litre Jar of MATRIX in my Sump. Broken into separate cages, and placed in Different Flow areas of Sump.
I also add a bit a AquarForest BioS bacteria (2 drops every few days). But I DO NOT use their NP-Pro (carbon food).
To Keep P under check, I use Tiny bit of PhosGuard (aluminum GFO). Not in a reactor, but mess baggies. That I move around from Low Flow (all the time), to Higher Flow areas when P goes over (0.25), to keep P under 0.25.

I've got 3 Liters of matrix in my sump, but I also use bits and pieces for everything from frags to placing in frag cups.

BRS talked to WWC in their new videos, they will be mimicking WWC to see if they can get those results. BUT, WWC has been public with these numbers for years. They like no3 about 25, and po4 around 0.1 (NOT 0.01, 0.10)

Interesting and coincidental. My hopeful [[[ target is P between 0.1 and 0.2 ]]]

not much lower than 0.1 since I don't ever want to getting too low (undetectable by Hanna ppb Meter) and have to raise it adding P raising chemicals.

Do you mean 0.1 or 0.01 for Hanna? Because the hanna should have no problem reading between o.o1 - o.10 -- Most advocate for 0.05 based on nothing

Meant Hanna Goes as Low at 0.01. Then after that you hit 0.00 (which is undetectable).
I've been there before when I had the GHA outbreak.
I had a Hanna Phosphate Egg (ppm), and when I was getting 0.00, I wanted to know what P I had so I bought the Ultra Low Phospherous Egg (ppb) that is more granular at lower levels. It also gave me 0.00.
I Learned later that Early stage GHA was eating phosphates Thus 0.00 , and then the Mega Algae Bloom happened.

I may target below 0.1 later. For now I want to reduce P slowly. And it's been a challenge to keep around 0.2

Hoping the Algae Scrubber upgrade to Mixed (Macro/Cheato) kicks to to help with Both N&P.

Found one of my Carriberryi Anthias Dead

I knew something was wrong when the Pair of Anthias didn't come out to eat. JUST ONE.

I looked everywhere, and eventually found him in the Overflow Grill. Half Rotten.

Wonder why he died, since a few days ago I was admiring the pair on their growth and coloration.

Starvation? Killed by the other Anthias? Kill by another fish?
None of the above makes sense since I feed the tank many times a day, and I never saw any fighting in my tank.

I lost so many of these Carriberryi's, so I kind of give up on Anthias.

Well I now have BIO Room for the Flame Hawkfish AFTER QT.

Anthias are hit or miss. They can weekly do well for weeks and then suddenly disappear.
Frequent feeding is one thing to keep in mind.

Interesting read about your phosphates.

Yup. I won't be getting any more Anthias. I figure if I go on vacation, I'll come back to fewer.

ANOTHER FISH DIED (not in SPS TANK) but the 2nd Last Chromis in my KITCHEN TANK.

I was expecting this. He wasn't allowed to come out and eat by the Dominant Chromis for last couple of weeks.
He would try, but the other chromis would really chase him.
So he sat in his Cave waiting for food.

I just found him at the bottom of my tank. Just starting to rot. So good I got him out.

THIS CHANGES things. Less fish in Kitchen tank, mean the FLAME HAWK will go into Kitchen Tank.
Will be entertaining for whole Family.

He isn't ideal for Frag tank based on his Corner Personality.
He basically sits at the feeder waiting for food all day.
PROBLEM is any food that floats away, he doesn't chase and clean up.

HE will be IDEAL for Kitchen Tank.
