Welcome to the 2023 Grow-Out Contest, featuring Space Laser!

1675285473854.png

This thread will be used for monthly submissions of your growing frag progress!

A reminder of the rules:
Rule 1: Competition will last for One Year. (365 days from when you submit your initial entry)

Rule 2: The initial submission (baseline) must be measured on the included frag plug, with the official ruler, within 7 days of reciept.

Rule 3: The last submission must be within 365 days of your first official entry.

Rule 4: The provided ruler must be against your frag for every months’ submission photo.

Rule 5: A picture must be submitted by the end of the month, every month.

5.1: This may be accompanied by Calcium, Alkalinity, Magnesium, and Salinity readings. You may choose to include Nitrate and Phosphate as well.

When submitting your entry, please @StatelineReefer So that I may note it in my records.

Rule 6: You can remove the coral from the plug and mount it anywhere that you choose. If placed on a disk it can be moved around the tank. I encourage experimentation with placement as no two frags will grow the exact same, and some can be so picky that a half an inch makes a difference between no growth and explosive growth.

7) Adam from @Battlecorals will pick 2 winners to go to a voting process open to the public. A third category has been added this year and will be judged by Adam and I towards the end of the contest.

8) The prizes this year are some of the best we've ever had!

Feel free to PM me or @Battlecorals with any questions regarding the contest.

Just finished wc and added a couple small Tonga branches that were sitting in my basement. Frag is sitting front and center of my tank at about 260 par from 3 blue+ and 3 coral+ t5s. Picture is with blue+ off so might consider a filter going forward cause although coral+ seems fairly daylightish I don’t like the picture temp. I plan on moving the frag to on of the side panels within the next few days but this is my start!

Edit
02/12 salinity sg 1.026-27/ppt 35 Milwaukee refractometer, alk 7.6 hannah 7.7-8.0 salifert, nitrate 14 hannah 12 nyos, phosphate 0.07 hannah 0.03 salifert, calcium 440-450 Red Sea, magnesium 1340-1350 aquaforest

I only do phosphate and alkalinity daily or close to it

But the blues show off the polyp coloration so well!!! I will admit to having a preference to 14000k or 16000k lighting myself.

That said, whatever light you want to shoot them in is alright by me, as long as I can read the ruler behind it, and thankfully, Adam chose a perfect contrast, so they're readable in just about every light.

Sorry been off the forum for a little bit. Is there one or two different Space Laser contests? I just placed my order today.
