I don’t know.. wish I did lol. This is my Helltroll well after contest done. Just starting to grow tips way after a year in tank.
My Houdini is growing like crazy. I run two 32” photons over center of tank at 95%.
1 Reefbrite XHO on either side of photon.
220 gallon - 72”x30”wx24”D.
Some of my colonies take right off. Others take years to grow

I have Greg's unicorn Adam sent me in a battle box been in my tank well over a year doing good slow grower. I got a another piece from him in a battle box few months back and its already same size as the original in couple months. It is on the other side of the tank but same lighting same par. I have a JF solar flare that was growing like a weed until I accidently fragged it and now neither piece is doing much at all. To me it seems like each frag is almost like a individual. Unless were talking monti that stuffs the BORG ! lol

So do you trim many frags like that? I’ve heard Chris Meckley talk of doing stuff like that on stagnant frags. I’ve yet to ever try it
Yeah. With acro frags I elevate them to let them encrust the plug fully. Usually the original frag doesn’t do anything, and new nubs grow when the frag plug is completed encrusted. So to speed things along, I sometimes nip a 1/4” off the top to encourage growth. Then re glue the little frag on another plug to encrust.

Interesting I have a couple that I might try that on.

Birdsnest in the background looks really cool! Contest frag looking great too
Thanks, the birds nest is pretty good size volleyball or bigger, im always fragging pieces off of it. Its ponape I got 10 years ago maybe. At one point I had 3 pieces that size in there it just grows like a weed very hardy.

I remember the Ponape Birdsnest, yeah, thanks for describing it. I’d like to get some growing here one day

Here's my lackluster entry. It's thickened up and encrusted a bit, but daaaaaang, not like the others.

Clip a tip! It promotes growth almost every time! If it takes off in my tank from the get go I don’t mess with it but after 2 months I don’t see growth I’ll chop like 1/8” off myself.
