Starting up a brand new im fusion 10 ive had at least 4 ys. Got married before starting it, and now have a new baby, time to get it wet.
Picked up gulf water this wknd and filled it.

Fauna and flora: None yet, havent decided. Maybe zoas or mushrooms on the back wall, algae, grass, and gorgonian on the live rock/sand.
Here is the non-spinning s.s. Maybe too much flow from the sicce? I'll pbly get a vivid random flow generator w no moving parts I just saw on this site.

Oh, and a tailspot blenny and highfin govy w shrimp. Sexy shrimp, pompom shrimp and a brittle star. Hermits and snails I collect and maybe collect some seaweed, too.

So I've got one big flat piece in the tank, the other 3 pieces in a 5 gal bucket with the im stock pump for circulation. It's too silted up in the tank to place them. The bucket water was clear when I put them in at 10 a.m. before work, it is now clowdy/dirty, and smells a little foul. Do I want to put everything in the display asap and run carbon or something, or keep the 3 medium small rock in the bucket till tomorrow, then change the water?

Willis got a pork rib wedged so tightly between his teeth on the roof of his mouth, we couldn't budge it with pliers while I held him down. Had to be sedated and cut out. There's $529 hobby dollars I won't get back.

Finally just plopped all the live rock in the tank, no carbon. I only know for sure I want the largest flat rock in the dt. When time allows and i get the Vivid rfg to replace the non-functioning spinstream, I'll place everything. No time to check the ammonia yet, want to do that tonight.

My planted tank has suffered neglect since the baby came along...has been overrun by bb algae and java moss That stuff is like gsp, i wish id never put it in there.

Recieved some bags of macro and isolated the things I couldn't identify. There was a mantis shrimp in the shipment, is the green blob eggs from her? Does anyone know what the spiderweb creature is in the bottom pic? Kind of fascinating, but I don't want anything that will kill coral. Seems I remember something that casts long strings out many years ago that could sting coral?

I have an order coming from LA with pink zoas, superman monti, and silver leptisomething. Going to do coral on the wall rock, macro and inverts on the flat rock. The wife recently got interested in it.

Threw my LA and KP aquatic orders in the tank, hope to break up the monti and leptoseris frags this wknd and mount them up high where they are now, all over the high rocks.

I ordered pink ray colony and white rfa. Got one green rfa and half the zoas are fluorescent yellow/green. Since I have a planted 75g I was hoping to avoid green.

I found I like the rfa and gorgonian best. I've never had them as live rock in the 90's was indo, was awesome, and I never added anything but fish.

Well I fragged the zoa colony and glued them all over. Also moved some of the other stuff around. Last night the monti and leptoseris were broken in pieces and mounted on the upper rockwork. The superman monti has never looked good but the lepto always has. I'll probably put a sponge, or bubble anemone, or cabbage coral where the colony rock had been, and some red grape calerpa on this side, too.

The sea fan has evacuated it's tube and is in the sand next to it, not out right now.

Does anyone know what this is? It was on the zoa colony rock, sticking sideways out from under the edge with a twig shaped tube attached to it. I hope it's not a nasty big paly. It never opened in a week, but, the rfa was snuggled up against it. When I fed reef roids to the tank, it stood erect but never changed appearance.

The huge mystery blob is starting to open, appears to be a polyp of some kind? It is 1 1/4" long and half an inch thick.

Green things I assumed were macro came in on this snail. They are all over the live rock, none on the dry pukani. It looks like they are a fanworm, looking at the one to the left of the snail. I'm hoping they aren't vermetid snails.

Most zoa have opened, and only half of the pink ray colony were in fact pink!

They're already budding.

Hi mastff, thanks for commenting. I posted the id thing on the zoa thread. It is a big paly, has opened more. No fish yet. We are in construction, and are going to leave this alone for now, just weekly maintenance, till we see how the recession shakes out. Hopefully it will be a mini one. My preference is to patronize a local lfs. I would like a t.s. blenny, a shrimp/ goby combo, and maybe either a firefish, cardinal, or my wife wants a clown. It will be a high nutrient tank

Sounds great. I may suggest 1 fish. A little ammonia produced along with the CuC cannot hurt. I agree on a LFS you can trust. A goby/shrimp combo may be a good choice to keep sand moving,. either way tank looks good, keep the updates coming ;Shamefullyembarrased

Ive noticed these zoa are the only ones that never open. What is the plant growth on them and do I want to get rid of it? It is only on this frag, just came up in a week or so.

Tank update time.

Found out that was bryopsis in the above pic, tossed the zoas, also tossed a macro it had moved onto. Also carefully removed it in 2 spots from the glass w a razor where the macro was.

Had an outbreak of bubble algae right after the bryopsis, had to get an emerald crab. Had the most interesting macro starting, in addition to the mermaid's cup, all eaten now

I'm pretty sure it all came in on the maricultured indo zoa frag as thats the area where the bubble algae started, too.

The wife wanted "the pretty yellow palm trees" (gsp) at the lfs, so the back wall and glued rocks will become a pest coral area of gsp and xenia, let them fight it out . Ill try to keep them off the very top rock where the lepto is encrusting.

The monti had spread faster than the lepto, but after deciding to go a month between nsw changes instead of 2 weeks, it started to recede at the edges. I suspect as coraline algae etc spreads, the calcium may have been used up? Or nutrients built up too much? Either way, now that the beaches are opening up it'll be getting water changes 2x/mo.

Wife wanted a nemo fish last week at the lfs, and our 5 mo.old was most excited by their movement/color, so...

He went carpet surfing after 4 days. The emerald crab kept spooking him as he spooked the crab. Dug through my supplies, found the factory net lid, and will be installing before the next addition.

In addition to gsp i got an acan, goni, and placed those on the floor rocks, which I've pulled away from the wall rocks to stop gsp spread. May add a hammer or something where they almost touch to control spread.

Still running all live rock rubble in all 3 back compartments, a bag of gac passively shading the center compartment, and only add floss if I'm doing a cleaning or w/c, removed afterwards. Trying for a cryptic fuge, but I'm sure the flow is way too fast back there in this little tank. Only goni looks unhappy. The frag was broken in 2, with one mounted 6" higher than the other to see what works. Feeding reef roids 2x/wk. Zoas exploding and getting huge, larger than I like per polyp for this tank. I learned the smaller brilliant green ones may be called green crossetts.

Update, got an anemone shrimp as that's about all the lfs had for inverts. Emerald crab has eaten all hair algae, hasn't eaten soft corals yet. Feeding him 1/2 hikari algae pellet weekly.
Gonipora looks like it's not going to make it.
Frogspawn ia bigger than when we got it.
Zoas doing well, except for the emeral crab prying them loose searching for algae.
I've given up trying to place the ricordea where they can be seen. Killed one with superglue. It split everywhere the superglue landed on its back (accident, gel gorilla glue was runny) The other just wants to end up in the back so I'll let it be. No algae, everything is good except the goni and that's the way this tank will be for a while, no coral addditions, just growing in.
The xenia is growing faster than expected. Moved the gsp to the back wall, off the back rocks. May have to move the zoa off the back rocks eventually w the xenia and gsp back there.
