I thought I’d just start a new thread on this build even though it’s more of a transition to a new tank. Maybe this will be the end of my tank quality bad luck.
Anyway… new IM 100 peninsula, 48x30x16 deep, big footprint but on the shallow side. Arrived yesterday, unpacked it and twisted my back. Son came over and hung the light, and built the stand. Tank is still in the garage until I can convince someone to help me get it in the house lol.

Nice looking tank -- I love the shallow dimensions (((but 100 gallons is out of my league, especially for wife-approved location)))

*right in front of window would be heat concern for me but I'm in southern California so maybe different -- do you have plans to use natural sunlight somewhat or ???

Well it’s up and running. Set it up yesterday, had to work on till 1am due to a 6 hour power outage in the afternoon. Still needs a little tweaking on the rock work and tidy up here and there. It’s a beautiful tank, and hopefully it will be a beautiful reef one day.

Some things need to find their final spots, but everything looks happy. Hoping for some good frags during the TD sale Saturday.

Looks good! Very similar to the scape I have planned for mine.

You running T5s? Also what is the depth of the water line? I'm a bit nervous about how shallow the tank is.

The depth is just over 13 inches. Personally I like the shallow water because maintenance is a breeze! It makes cleaning the inside of glass soooo easy. I’d like to rework my scape some but most of the rock is attached to each other so. I am running T5s.

Oh man that is a couple inches lower than I was thinking. Was thinking closer 15. Oh yeah I am going to really enjoy the ease of access that's for sure!

Yeah I think I am going to avoid attaching most rocks together because I know I'll probably end up making some changes over time ha

How are you liking the dimensions of this aquarium after having it for a bit? I really like the idea of it. Curious if you have an update!

Looks like I'm not the only one who got this peninsula style tank on sale a few months ago and is looking for advice. Anyone else done with their build?

I picked one up on the clearance sale (INT, not EXT) that I'm building out for an Mbuna tank. Once I get it up and going I'll post some photos.

thought I'd post an update. After many months of fighting dino's, I think I finally beat em. I lost several SPS during that fight, and am transitioning to more softies and lps. I am happy with the tank at this point. Everything seems to be growing and pretty happy. I added 25 lbs. of real rock from Live Rock and Reef, after several weeks of quarantine, I am happy with it. Covered in life and micro fauna, it was a nice addition. Fish are Foxface, Orchid Dottyback, Lawnmower Blenny, Flame Hawk, and, my fav, a bonded pair of Lightning Maroon clowns.
