Gonna build structure around a PVC frame. Trying to do some negative space aquascaping. Read a thread on the rule of thirds but I don't think I understand it.

So I broke the front glass of the used Cadlights 100 gallon that I bought for $200. No big loss but I have already bought all this equipment for a 100 gallon and ran pipes in my wall to hang water filters and gfo reactors in the garage on the other side of my home office. So I bought a IM 100 with internal overflow.

Of course none of the plumbing lined up and I had to redo all of the piping to the sump and in the wall. More dry wall work. Fortunately we just did a bathroom remodel so I put up some leftover backer board behind the sump.

Not sure why they provide a shelf with these stands. I am going to use it as a ballast shelf and put it all the way up against the bottom of the tank. Had to cut a notch for the plumbing to pass thru.

Just used diamond hole saw bits and kept the waterhole flowing to keep it cool. I took it very slowly

Drilled the bottom glass from the outside ? You put a piece of wood on the inside ?

Have to drill from the outside, no way to get the drill down the overflow. The wood was just a template. I drilled out the existing holes from metric to English dimensions. I drilled all the holes in the wood to test fit all the pipe spacing and to make sure I could tighten all the nuts on the bottom side they are much larger than the actual holes. I set the tank on its side, the bottom glass is just as thick as the sides. Glass is very strong in compression. It takes a while to grind thru that thick of glass, but it is possible. The biggest risk is thermal shock and cracking. Go slow and don't let it get hot.
