Well figure I should update my thread seeing tank is about 1 year old this month. Had some ups and downs. Went through the normal new tank syndrome, diatoms, GhA, and what not. Tank has seemed to settle nicely now. Got my lower and upper to the tank 90% complete.

Upper cabinet is false front. 2 gas cylinders help with opening and holding lid up for feeding and tank maintenance.

Still some trim work to do and cord management yet. Making backers around lid to seal tight and prevent light from bleeding though.

Perfect place to store wine and beer!
Love it!

Really nice set-up. You've got great planning and plumbing skills. You willing to come to CT to plan and plumb a new basement sump for me? After having sump under tank for 19 years my knees and back are protesting so I'm moving it to basement. Found your thread while researching.

Great job!

Well been a while since I updated this thread. Coming up on the 2 year mark since adding water. Had some ups and downs. Went through the ugliest late in the build. Fought cyano pretty bad. But just letting it run its course seemed to pay off. Finished some trim pieces. Added a UV sterilizer. Added some corals and fish. So far knock on wood everything has been doing great. Now some pics.

Thank you. Sorry been a while since I checked my build thread. If you were closer I would absolutely help plumb your tank. I do really enjoy that part. I see you did yours. Won't ever regret doing a basement sump.

Yeah, my basement sump project is coming along. It's been up and running a month or so and I'm working on cleaning up the wiring.

Only downside is it's really cold down there this time of year. Brrr.

I have that issue too. For next winter I'm actually thinking about wrapping sump in some of that pink foam to help hold heat in tank. Feel like my heater runs allot in winter. Basement stays around 60 degrees all winter.

My heaters are on most of the time too. But my basement runs in the low 50's so it gets really cold when I need to putter around down there.

Glad to see the tank is still going strong after 2 years!
