Hey everyone. I picked up a 120 gallon (48x24x24) Coast to Coast aquarium from a fellow reefer and I’m getting around to setting it up. This will be my first build with a sump, so let’s hope 2021 is a kind year and my planning works out! While I’m waiting for my buddies to come move the tank inside onto its stand, I decided to try my hand at a NSA aquascape. I only had one requirement when I started. My 4 year old son demanded an arch/tunnel be included somewhere.

In the pictures below, everything is superglued but I’m waiting to cement the pieces together until I got some input from fellow reefers. The tank will be primarily SPS and Euphyllia, so I want to make sure I’m not missing any obvious flow/lighting/growth issues. Flow will come from 2-MP40s mounted on the sides of the tank, as well as my return pump, a Vectra L2. I do have an additional MP40 I can use if you guys see a need for one, or I have two MP10s I was going to use on a smaller frag tank. As far as lighting, I got the 48” Aquatic Life hybrid and the tank came with 2 - Gen 4 Radions when I purchased it. The overflow is in the back right corner.

The rocks on the left side of the aquascape have a max height around 10” and the right side peak is just under 14”. I tried to leave 3-4” on all sides between the glass. Some of the small points on the left and right points are about 2”

I look forward to everyone’s input. I’m sure I’ll make some dumb mistakes along the way, especially when it comes to plumbing on my first attempt at it, so feel free to call me out before I make anything permanent! And for those wondering, yes my wife loved that I took over the dining room table for the last 2-3 days working on this when I got a few free minutes.

The tank is officially wet. Shout out to bulk reef for the pipe and broadfield for some inspiration. I was nervous about the plumbing since this is my first tank with a sump, but I think it turned out pretty well. Now to let the water clear up and then start cycling. I did wash the sand pretty thoroughly beforehand, so the clarity isn’t bad right off the bat. Hoping we’re clear by morning. Next up is building a wood surround to hide the tslot stand/sump, not to mention keep my two little boys from using it as an indoor water table. Then it’s the electronics side of the stand. I have an apex system to move in and want to get everything mounted on a control board, so we’ll see what I can come up with in a small space to satisfy my ocd.

Ps. Don’t mind the wood pieces under the stand. I know framingtech assured me the leveling feet would be find to handle the load, but I had some scrap wood laying around and it creates a little extra piece of mind having a backup there that will be hidden by my wood framing just in case, even if it is probably useless lol

Awesome scape. Looking for inspiration on my 120 aquascape. How’s it looking today? Have many corals?
