Hi everyone!
Hope your doing good .I'm faz .I own a 40 gallon fish only tank .

I purchased a 120 gallon for some soft corals and few lps .

I have drilled the tank on the side for peninsula style and wanted to cover the pipes .(unable tendrils underneath tempered glass )

I was planing to build a stand using wood .

So the tank is 48×24
And the stand 54×26

I would need some help choosing the right stand .
Planned of having 4 legs in the front and back .

I'm worried since the tank is 48 inches and the stand is 54 inches . If the stand will break off in few months or years . Since there is a 6 inches gap from the edge of the tank to the last edge of the tank .

Than balance 6 inches is to cover the pips which goes to the sump .

I have attached plan of my design please help me with which design should I go .

Make a stand for 54 the 6 inch gap wont make a difference

Or
Make the stand leg exactly 48 inches leave 6 inches off the end .

Sorry for the my drawing .

Thank you everyone.

in your case i would build the stand with six legs. 4 legs one to support each corner of the tank, and the last 2 on the end that would have hung over the 2 outside legs here don't support much weight they will just make it easier to skin the stand

Hi Biglew.
Hope you doing good .thanks for the quick reply and help .only question is will it hold the 120 gallon weight. That where I'm scared about. The design you have given me do I have to put a huge wood on the top .

Thank you

Haven't built a stand myself yet. I know you absolutely need support at all 4 corners of the tank or the stand will sag. You will also need to build a framework on the bottom to support the legs. The frame on top needs to sit on top of the legs.

Thanks for the support. I was thinking some like this .so that all 4 corners of the tank sits still on the leg .
I liked the way you designed it how did you do it .
Is it possible can you do the case design .the length extended red bar in the picture. I have edited the pic a bit . If I could get a design like that would be awesome. Thanks again .only if you have time if not it's cool.
