Water change... done.

About 8 months ago, I got some frags from Fantasy Corals in Singapore.
Most of the frags did not make it. This due to my own fault as I did not keep up with maintenance at some point and those were the most fragile and first to suffer.
One of those frags was even lost during a change in scape.

Now, a couple of weeks ago I found that frag under one of the rocks. It has been there for maybe 4-5 months. Limited light, but with flow, stuck between the bottom and a rock. (If I had sand, it was lost)
There were no polyps and colour was grey/brownish.
So I placed that frag on the frag rack, with low light and waited.

Today, that frag was placed back and glued to a rock.
The bottom side did not survive but the top looks amazing.

Incredible what nature is capable of when just left alone eh?

I just rescaped the left side of my DT, and found green blasto polyps from a bailout I had on my 9+ head colony I had prior to the upgrade. Like finding a $20 bill before u do the laundry!

I need to come to your house, wave my arms in your tank for a bit to bring some of that luck back to my tank. ;)

Although I am back up to date with the maintenance schedule I noticed that the polyp extension of the corals is not at its best.

So I asked around what others are using and wwas available locally, and got a Maxspect Gyre XF350.
Installed it tonight and set it at 30% constant flow for the moment.
My other pumps are running from the opposite side and with an interval so no need to have the gyre doing the same.

This should do the trick.

My xf250s are a dream. But I almost traded for nero5's last month ;)

These gyres are very quiet. I had the 200 series before which were loud compared to this one. It is even more quiet than the MP40 below it.
Nero 5 was also on my list, but for the price I was getting here the XF350, it seemed more bang for more bucks... (does not make sense)... it is just that the Nero magnets would not hold on the glass due to the thickness and I want to remove the MP40 which is now below the gyre.
The gyre will come lower with one side directed where the MP40 is pumping and the other head up to create a vortex against the pump on the other side of the tank.

Hmmm... interesting thinking. Maybe 2 nero5's on the viewable side (lower profile) and I'll just switch to 1 xf250 on the far side of the tank where it's more hidden.

Got my wallet thinkin. Ha

While checking the pictures I took last night, I found some strange white marks on some of the coral.
I haven't seen any bugs in the tank since a long time so I doubt this might be.

The tips of this coral were close to a mushroom at one point. Could that be the reason?
