Beautiful. They all have great colors, but that first one, wow!

It is a great looking frag.
The colony is also lovely. I am not sure what is the most contributing factor, extra T5, stable alk at lower values, water changes or the dosing of Coral Essentials (or just the combination of it all), but I am very happy with those crazy polyps.

Looking good! Stags are definitely getting some “air”

Thank you. The staghorns will soon touch the air.
I have redirected some flow in the hope they would grow more horizontal, but they go straight to the light.

@Janci, it's been forever since I checked in on your thread. Just beautiful is about all I can say. I could also say wozzers but I really don't think that's a word.

Any how, if necessary I leave the frag in BPK for you to pick it up.

Just some remaining pictures from the last week.

@YHSublime this is the one that you liked. Trying to get it to colour up a little more.
While looking at the polyps in this picture, maybe it is in too much light?
The shadowed polyps extend more than the ones receiving full light.

I have a question about blue acros.
Do they prefer high PAR lighting or rather low?

They seem happy, but do not grow. As both of the below species are each in a corner in the tank at the same PAR rating, I started doubting about the lighting.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Hubba Hubba! I think it's just new growth that's still catching up color wise, so long as it's growing and seems fine I wouldn't fuss with it. Or you could frag a piece and put it down lower and see how that does ;)

My ever reliable lfs who provides the Tropic Marine salt for the tank ran out of stock.
So I need a replacement salt that mixes around 7 dKH.
Any suggestions?

Dang you spent alot of time making that, I would love to do something like that one day.
Me? LOL, I did not make it, but thanks! It actually may be out of date, but I figured it would help Janci get started.

I cannot think of anything that mixes that low. I use LiveAquaria salt that mixes to 8.5 dKH consistently, but probably not easy for you to get. Fritz also mixes around 8.5 dKH I believe.

Salt-mix-comparison.jpg

http://www.saltwateraquariumblog.com/best-aquarium-salt-mix-review-popular-reef-salt-mix-options/

I was looking at that same overview.
I use the Tropic Marine Pro Reef salt and found it mixes at 1.026 with an alkalinity of around 7.5 which is great.
There are many salts on the market but not all are available here.
The lfs suggestion to use Reef Crystals comes with a too high ALK.
It seems like I will have to call several stores to see what they have in stock and would be useful.

There was another article which I cannot find now that recommended another salt for the lower alk ranges.
Time to google a little more.
