I currently have 2 tanks: my kids which is 90% done and mine which is 10% done. I'm still in planning stage on mine its 5ft tank 60x26x20w. I'm in a toss up on what style of sump I should run. I plan on it being a fish with softies tank. Planned stock is: clown pair with bta, lawnmower blenny, tang gang, after a bit a mandarin pair, and to finish it off a goby pair with a pistol. I'm considering the triton method, I research a lot and have been planning for a year and starting to get all equipment in hand. Any help with pros and cons to sump filtration methods would be greatly appreciated.

I look forward to seeing this come together! Triton is personally not my thing, but I know that it has a following. Is there a reason not to go with a standard sump with a protein skimmer?

What I've seen has a skimmer. Unless I'm missing something. I plan on running a skimmer.

So here is an update on plans:
Sump: I'm in a toss up do I go trigger triton 44, lifereef with fuge, or geosreef 46?
Return pump: based on Sump if I go geosreef or trigger will most likely go cor 20 pump if I used liferreef he is old school ac pumps a mag9 for skimmer send blueline for return and feed to fuge
Heater: two inkbirds set 2 degrees apart as a fail safe with 300w titanium elements.
Lighting: toss up between 2 a360x or 4 160 kessil.
Aquascape: 4-6 Marco foundation pieces one island made with a foundation and a tree 80lbs of Marco broke up to make a sweet scape with some arches limbs shelves and caves. Some Marco rumble piles for pistol and gobies to play with.
Skimmer: I currently have reefbuilder skimmer but if I go liferreef Sump gonna use his skimmer or if I go trigger or geosreef Sump I may swap to DC bubble king 180.

Am up in air on controllers I know kessil will connect right to apex but I can't find cable to connect them to ghl.
Powerheads I will be using 2 6040 and two 6095 6040 on back walls and 6095 on opposite ends of tank. Again I know these will connect to either controller.
What am I wanting to control: power head speed and run time, temp, ph, orp, ,salinity lighting dimming wanting to slowly ramp dt up and as it starts to ramp up ramp down kessil fuge light. Day dt schedule will be 7am start ramp 10am full ramp(at desired level) 5pm start ramp down 7pm lights off start a moonlight. Fuge will be opposite accept a small over lap 6pm start ramp up 10pm full power 5am start down 8am off. Dosing will probably be done by a stand alone doser
