I would try that but that’s where my filter sock is
I put one of mine in tank of my biocube because it doesnt fit in the first chamber because of the skimmer. I wouldn't put it in other chambers because you risk it burning or shorting out if the water level drops too low. I know its not popular to have a heater inside the main tank but some of them are more discrete looking like the, neotherms.

If putting a heater in the chamber it should always go in the "in take" chamber where the water level doesn't change. in this case, its the first one.
This makes perfect sense. It Also is not where my heater is in my biocube but that thing never evaps. I need to add maybe two cups RODI a month...

I've seen some people put in the other chambers but I don't like to live dangerously :winking-face-with-tongue: . Hence me QTing inverts. HAHA

You are right. There is very little evaporation if you use a lid. my first and second chambers fluctuation due to my water changes. over time, the amount I pull is often more than what I put back in and my first and second chamber have fluctuated because of it.

Interesting… new Red Sea test says my ALK is 8.2… which would make more sense since I didn’t think ALK would be an issue given the water changes I do. Polyps are starting to come out on the leather but it still looks like it needs viagra.

edit to add: I’m not insisting this the leathers problem. But maybe I shouldnt have messed with my alk to begin with?

I've never cared for titration tests so only use colorometers.

If I see something out of the ordinary on my Hanna, I check again. If it confirms the reading I do something about it. You saw low alk, you tried to alk up. Could have checked with another test, sure..

I think your leather is just a

The head isn’t shiny and it’s rising… I think you all are right. It’s just needed some space and left alone for a bit. :face-blowing-a-kiss:

Did a 5 gallon water change last night. Checked something in the middle chamber and had issues getting everything back in. This stirred up all the crude and it went back into the tank.

The tank looks back to normal this morning. The polyps on the leather are back out.. it’s just still really floppy.

Trying not to meddle, which is hard.

What is crude? Is that like crud with an e for excrement? Or like crude oil? Maybe you and @Projects with Sam can combine things and make crude poil. (If you’re going to dish it or you have to be willing to take it!)

BTW - I don’t mean to scare you but it appears you may have an otherworldly entity in your home. However, it doesn’t look like one to be too worried about in his hoodie.

you have to poil the crude to get the crud out. It's the fist step in refining anything extracted through fracking.

Far be it from me to be a wise guy BUT wouldn't the first step in refining anything extracted through fracking be to transport it to the refinery?

Nah. It save money to poil on site. Shipping the water just to poil later is illogical.
