I am getting close to filling this tank with water it has been a long time coming. I bought the tank 5 years ago and just now setting it up.

This is a tall tank 48x24x30 it will be hard to get a lot of height with the rocks without piling it into a wall like structure which I don't want. The rock on the right is one large rock the left is 6 or 7 rocks stacked. Your opinions are appreciated.

I found a website that has high quality coral reef images that are free for personal use. I thought it would look cool to have one on the back glass. So I had one of the images made into a vinyl window decal and put it on the back glass. What do you think, keep it or change it to a black background.

I think that you should buy some Marco cement and go higher with your rocks, because it would be cool to see the fish swim around at least one much taller rock structure. To me, at the current height (low), you are not playing to your tall tank’s strength. ;)

You could maybe get better integration with the depth perspective by building two small structures off the back corner weirs. Just lower than the background reef line. Then position the two larger bommie structures towards the front.

Bulk Reef Supply (BRS) has a lot of great videos, usually short but very informative. I recently watched one on how to do Negative Space Aquascape. Pretty cool.

Thanks for the suggestions. You did convince me to make a change and I did make the left side a couple inches higher and took the large rocks out from the right side and cemented a structure together that I think looks pretty cool. It is not an NSA structure for sure. I like the look of them but I also like the 2 island look.
I watched several of the videos and looked at sp1187's build thread, which was awesome.

I would like to keep the back glass cleaned. I have a scraper with a 36" handle that I will use to clean it.

Anyway this is what I ended up with which I like and I have the stamp of approval from my 6 yo son

Make an arch across!! You'd could do sps on the top and hammers on the underside waving around! Would be ******!

I like it and it works well with your background. You could also consider putting a very small short island out in front for something low to grow on to break up that area a touch...just a thought.
