Got some more work done on the tank the past few days. I added some Fritz Turbo Start to help the initial cycle. I will be leaving the skimmer off for a few days to let the beneficial bacteria colonize the tank. I also got the rock work all finished up. I use a few pieces of RealReef rock I got at my last for both small satellite rock structures and broke one rock up and glued the pieces to my “anemone bowl”. I wanted the bowl to look more natural when looking at the tank. I also added and programmed the WXM module, however I have noticed a problem with one of my brand new MP40s. The power supply brick is making a very high pitch noise when the power goes below 50%. I emailed Ecotech about the problem tonight and hope to hear something tomorrow morning. Just out of curiosity, has anyone else come across this issue?

Checked the parameters along with the Ammonia and Nitrite tonight. Everything is in check, so I decided to move a few corals over to see how they do. Everything is looking good so far. Right now the tank is just running on the T5’s from the ATI hybrid fixture. The Kessil’s will be moved over once the final batch of corals are moved. The tank is running great so far, I started the skimmer a few days after dosing the Fritz Turbo start. I programmed the Avast Marine skimmer swabbie to run for 1 minute every 3 hours. I also extended the skimmer drain to run into a BRS 1 gallon low profile container. I placed a small valve in the drain line to easily remove the container when it gets full. I’ll keep the updates coming!

I have a similar light I'm trying to install over my tank any tips to getting it strait and secure in the ceiling ? Love the setup very clean!

Thank you! I ended up using 4 drywall anchors and a metal latch found on sliding gate locks that I got at Home Depot. I am paranoid about something crazy happening and everything falling out, so I definitely way over engineered it. I painted the parts white to match the ceiling, but still need to clean up metal wire a little bit to keep the sleek look. I’ll take some pictures for you when I get home tonight.

Sorry it took me a few days, here is a picture of the ceiling mount that I did. Still going to clean up the wires and do some touch up paint.

Here is a picture of why I am upgrading:

My trachyphylla is completely taking over an entire corner of my current SR-80. When fully extended, this coral pushes up against the corner of the glass, the rock structure, and my blue squamosa clam. Just for reference, the clam is approximately 3.5”.

P.S. sorry for not cleaning the glass first!

Just posting a new update while waiting for the hurricane to slowly make its way to Charleston. Side note: I hope everyone who has been affected by this storm is safe and sound!

I have put ABS sheets from BRS in the tank and silicones them down (both on the bottom and around the edges) to keep detritus out. I used a bunch of old beer growlers filled with water to help hold them down while initially drying.

I also left about 1/4 gap all the way around it’s edge to not cut into or affect the structural silicone edges of the tank. I will begin to slowly fill the tank over the next few days (pending I am not forced overtime to work during the storm). I’ll keep all of you updated. Stay safe out there!

All you need now is a lot of ice. Who needs fish ;Joyful
