Do you think I can grow colorful healthy acropora using 2 AI Primes? My tank is 24 x 20 x 12. It's a Innovative Marine 25. The corals are placed about midheight and most are in the center with a few on the side. I run the BRS AB+ schedule.

I currently have just 1 AI Prime HD. Corals are growing but the colors are morphing because the par isn't enough. Adding a second AI Prime (a used HD or a new 16HD) is likely the cheapest option ($266 new or cheaper if bought used, about $150).

Some other options I'm considering are...
  • Used AI Hydra 26HD ($200) because I have a mount from a old tank build
  • XR15 G5 Pro or Blue ($513)
  • XR30 G5 Pro or Blue ($943)

Would love a new Radion but obviously a lot more expensive. If I can be successful with just adding another AI Prime that might be the best option for me. If Radions are still the way to go, I'd rather buy now rather than regret and buy later leading me to buy twice and burn money.

I would say absolutely. I am growing acros in my 40b with two primes. They acros were strategically placed using a par meter for guidance and I’ll eventually be getting a 3rd prime just for coverage but as par as par 2 primes definitely will grow acros.

I’m running 2 AI Prime HDs on a IM 20 peninsula. Grows acros just fine, close up red planet for color reference. Currently, I’ve got purple bonsai, green Birdsnest, sour apple anacropora, green elkhorn, red dragon, and red planet all of which are doing great and all colored up
