great job on both tanks, I’ve have most certainly been a huge fan of peninsula style aquariums. It’s goal of mine to have a 200G+ peninsula style aquarium, either dividing a room, or in front of 1 large window Pane the size of the aquarium facing the backyard.
So are there definite 200g+ plans in the near future? That would be fun to put together!

Thanks!!!!!! Did I read somewhere your name is Gus? Either way thanks a bunch for facilitating this. So appreciate it! Have a great evening. :)
I’m glad the great MOD’s were able to help you in linking the build thread. Yes, name is Gus, it’s a pleasure. I have a plan to head thru AZ and visit some friends @LRT and an old mentor of mine, maybe when the day comes I can stop by and see your beauty’s in person.

I do I’m just waiting on a “ Market Correction” for these Darn California Home prices so that I can buy my long term home, I’ve always found bigger tanks to be much easier to
Put on what I like to call cruise control!
I had a big tank back pre smart phone days, it was 48” long 32” tall 36” wide, I was running 2 400 watt radiums over it, big ole’ G4 skimmer, reactor with 250g of Rowa, and feeding heavy!
Best growth I ever had in any aquarium, and I was dosing manually, everything stayed stable. Only draw back was 50g water changes per week.
I’ll try and pull some pictures from my old camera of it, and post them on my build thread.

Good to officially meet you Gus. Glenn here. Looking forward to meeting LRT myself at an upcoming Az FRAG meeting. Just joined but haven’t made a meeting. Maybe we can all meet up some day. Thanks again for the help. Really appreciate it!

Awesome build thread! How are you liking the black box led lights? I have 2 that came with my 150 gallon and I’ve been wondering if they will be sufficient for my mixed reef. Not sure on the brand of them but they look very similar to yours

They were Mars Aqua 165w. They did fantastic growing sps as you can see. As a matter of fact, I just sold those three lights last week. I’m finally upgrading to some Kessil A360X lights. Long story short, they will work for your mixed reef. Good luck!!!

Sold my 3 Mars Aqua 165w led lights. Making 2 new reefers very happy! Bought 2 Kessil A360X and replace them already with some interesting success. I have Red Hot Chili Pepper Monti that was hanging on but not doing great. The new Kessils seriously did the trick. In just 3 weeks there’s new growth. Exciting!!!

My 180 major overhaul!!! Some of the previous photos reveal a very invasive coral, Blue Clove Polyps. They started out as pretty little blue polyps that just appeared in my 137 gallon peninsula (shown earlier). Unaware of how invasive these innocent little polyps were, I transferred them over to the 180 gallon. BIG MISTAKE!!! I had to remove from the tank corals and inverts and begin to dose “ dog de-wormer” of all things. Fenbendazole to be exact. I’m now on day 5 and my reef looks more like the surface of the moon. Good news is: all my fish are fine and seem totally unaffected by the medication. My rocks after 5 days can now be seen. And there are only very small bumps on my rocks that was one week ago 1000s of beautiful little polyps.

“Four months later” and progress continues. The Fenbendazole dosing (now 5 months ago) definitely took care or my invasive Blue Clove Polyps but with that positive move came 2 side effects. High Phosphates and a short carpet of turf algae where the polyps were. Curious no? The Hanna phosphate checker read 2.50. I began adding Phosgaurd and it dropped slowly over two months to near 1.00. I began Phosphate Rx. It’s presently at 0.26. Over the past 90 days the algae has lost its grip on my rock and very little remains. Additional good news, coralline algae has recently been popping up in numerous areas of the tank. This wasn’t the case up until now as the tank was still new “not mature” with all my Caribsea dead rock/life rock. Then with months of Fenbendazole present creating a high phosphate pandemic. Now things are balanced or almost there. Coralline is an indication of that to which I am very pleased.
All of this to say. Stability is the word for each day now. And just a month ago I thought it was high time to tackle my elevated nitrates. I am presently the proud owner of an Ice Cap Algae Turf Scrubber. It’s been up and running for one week now. I’m hoping that this is the “missing link” in my quest for the perfect system.

So the first week in February of 2022 almost a year ago!!! Marked the day I decided to dose fenbenazol to rid my tank of Blue Clove Polyps. Thankfully things are significantly better. It’s been a long road. Here are some pics I took this evening of some definite progress.
