Hi all, nice to meet with you guys.
First thread of my Gasy reef in Madagascar.
To introduce myself, I'm a French aquatic scientist working mainly on freshwater aquaculture even if my true passion goes to reef ecosystems.
I work for an French institute in agronomy and research (Cirad)
I do have about 11 year of experience in reef keeping. And my last tank here that will be presented in this thread is 3 years old.
The tanks is full local with few endemic species such as amphiprion latifasciatus. I have also some individuals that has to be identified. The trick is that they're any retailer here (I do import every material except glass bought here and tank build by myself)
Even sea salt as to be imported when I travel to France coz I'm 10 hours far from the sea in the capital Antananarivo.
I had the opportunity to work with a coral and fish farm in Nosy Be who use to export in EU, selling me live rocks, fish and corals.
The setting is really simple with sump, skimmer and bailing using carbonate method. My safe guard is a diesel generator given regular power outage.
Here is a first input from my phone. Would be glad to provide more information on request.
Cheers
