Running in this recent heat is what I’d call cruel and unusual punishment! Well done staying the course!

@mch1984 Hope you're still on the mend! Cant wait to see you lay some smack down with a 6 mile campaign to silence your heckler ;)

Thank you for the encouragement. It is much appreciated!

Matt is doing well and the gout has subsided. We text regularly and he is just busy with work, family and BUYING A NEW BOAT! Make no mistake about it, though, the heckling will continue. :p

I’d expect nothing less! Glad to hear he’s on the up and up :) Signed, Your Lazy Pirate

@mch1984 -
Today's run was the hardest run I've had in a long, long time. Not a long or fast one. My legs were tired but my mind just wasn't into it, at all. I didn't even want to go. Then I wanted to quit at .5 mile in. I just forced myself to keep going and got 4 in. I struggled with every minute. My head was full of negative stuff the whole time. Nevertheless, I consider it a positive experience because these are the ones that build resilience and strength.

Today is supposed to be about 10 degrees worse. No run today, though, as Fridays are a rest day for me. Most people only know about how cold it gets in Chicago in the winter and not much about the heat in the summer. I love hot weather and this is one of the reasons I want to move to a warm-weather climate.

@mch1984 - well, it appears you're still MIA and I say the "action" part of MIA very hesitantly! ;)

Just finished today's run. It was a warm 5.5 miles. Took a different routw today that enters a nature path about 1.35 miles from my house. I saw a friend as I was beginning the 4th mile. I stopped and we talked for about 40 minutes and I forgot to pause my watch. Threw the overall time and pace off but that's ok. What matters is I went and got it done. Hope you're having a good weekend with the fam!

Minimally! I am typically a heavy sweater to begin with and being 255lbs (down 10 pounds) right now doesn't help. Between ramping the mileage a little aggressively and not enough water/electrolyte replacement this week, my calves feel like piano wires. Matter of fact, they started cramping about 1.5 miles in and are still cramping a little. Nothing I haven't dealt with previously, though, and know what I have to do.

@mch1984 - got another 5 in today on tight and tired legs. Happy I went.

It would appear I have taken over this thread with additional support and commentary from @Scurvy .

Stopped just long enough to snap the picture.
In case you're wondering where @mch1984 is today; he is out fishing on his brand new boat that he bought yesterday. Some of us get in our workouts. Some of us fish and lounge around on new boats all day. Sheeeshh...

The next best thing to having your own build thread! Perhaps @mch1984 will let you borrow his boat as well!!!

Sorry guys, glad yall kept this thread active without me. I have not been working out, but have been sticking on the diet and am down 10lbs. That was friday, pretty sure I sweated out 10 more Sunday at the lake and afterward getting the boat ready for storage. It topped out at 105 that day. Yall come on down, any excuse to get this thing out works for me, it's going to be a lot of fun. Especially since I got the first trip jitters out of the way. I've never owned a boat, never unloaded or loaded a boat and now I've done both. Went great and nobody at the ramp knew that was my first time. Got it on the first try. Here is the boat and the very first fish brought on board, he's little but he was the first. Not sure how much working out will be done this week, we leave Friday for out cruise. However since we will NOT be counting calories on a cruise we have decided to get up and at least walk some or do some kind of work out on the boat everyday to help make up for it. Even though I'm not working out, I have been more active and spent more time outdoors in the last month then I have in a long time. I think getting my big butt off the couch will help as well. Also the gout is coming in and out right now, I've never had this many attacks in a row. I think the massive amount of protein I'm eating with the coach and the weight loss is adding to it. It flared up yesterday but I made it through the day fighting it, the attacks haven't been severe just there.
