Just some thoughts...

I wouldn't recommend this to new users in this hobby, but I haven't tested water in I'd say three years (give or take). I may check salinity every few months, but the big three plus some, no idea what the numbers are. I have developed the knowledge to understand when something is wrong by how my coral look. If they seem 'sad' or something doesn't seem right, I do water changes.

Also, I don't dose.

I am very new and try to test like I am supposed to but it occurred to me that the solution to almost every problem seems to be to do a water change so if I only have so much time, it is better spent doing a water change than testing.
