What I hate most about scrolling through this build progress.... is that I reached the last picture ! Its like when your watching your team and they're down by 2 , 30 seconds left in the game and they have the ball! then the cable goes out !!! Show me more... get to work!

Wow. Some folks here have epic building skills. This is one of the best in wall aquariums and fish room setups I have come across.
Congratulations this is fantastic.Following.
I have only one question . How will you clean the main viewing panel from the staircase?

I have a temporary 2x4 lag bolted to the wall over there opposite of the tank and I made those temp scaffolding for building the wall and header, I can step on that and the ledge under the tank (but could get kind of sketchy doing it weekly) Not quite sure how ill tackle this yet. or if ill just keep shimining out there.

Have thought about a shelf over the stairs that folds down but still trying to figure out a better way

Just fired up the sump on my lunch break, haven't run it yet with the baffles in it, and haven't tuned it much but I did swap out the impeller for the slower 4300gph vs 6K on the barracuda hybrid. But Now with the baffles its a bubble making machine. Running durso's on each end any pointers on getting this dialed in? anyone from STL area?

You may want to consider the robotic cleaner

you may consider a Robo snail cleaner Have never used it but thought it looks pretty cool.

HElp Whats next thought id have some time before i was in this spot - Well I dumped my BioStart in yesterday and I have no lights yet on this, But I can see some brow alage or something my rocks their noticeable darker. So whats my next step?? thinking some cheato I have a Mars 300W on the way (can I just fresh water dip the cheato?) Id like to get my first batch of QT fish going soon too hopefully by xmas I can get 2 rounds of QT fish in there.

Also still battling my micro bubbles going to installing some reverses durso style with wye pointed up later today , made one with a Tee at lunch and it seemed to make a pretty big difference, Will probably have to dial my flow back some too, pushing about 3kGPH on 2x1.5" returns and 2x1.5 drains is my setup

Oh my ammonia pre bio spira water was at .03 haven't tested anything else or again will test later.

Also bought a cabinet for my modules

Thats cool, but not sure how big it is wish it didnt have to park its self right on the front I have no access to the front for wires or anything, The tank is sealed off from the garage to inside the house

If I was going to ever get a robot glass cleaner I would get a MOAI one. They look awesome and have a camera built in to take close up pics of your tank while it cleans the glass! http://www.moaidevices.com/

They finished their crowd funding campaign a little while ago and should be close to release around now. At $300USD retail they are a bit much for me to justify atm but they seem like they are only a tiny bit more expensive than the other robot cleaner. On a tank where the glass is as hard to clean as yours I would probably be able to justify it :p

Your build is looking awesome BTW. Good work!

240 Gal Through wall Build, Need some help and Ideas!
I'm a little bit ahead of you with my build. Two 140 gallon 1/2 round tanks with a shared sump room in the basement. I went with Gobi pumps from a guy I met at MACNA. They are not hooked up yet but one should be running by this weekend. This might sound crazy but I'm building a heat exchange unit out of PVC that will be immersed in the sump and then plumbed (with an inline pump) to a small car radiator with an electric fan behind it. I've found a thermostat control that will turn the fan and pump on when the temp goes high. I know this will work because I hooked one up to my existing 140 and set the rad out on the deck. The time, the rad will be off to one side in the basement (sump room).

I want this to be Super easy to Maintain (Automatic Everything i can get)
and Very Low Power! Im not scared of doing solar tubes either if you think They will work in St Louis

So this is the plan 240G From Glass Cages

Aquarium: 240 Long 96 x 24 x 25 Tall for $919
Starphire on FRONT & REAR panel for $368
Reef-ready addition: 2 overflow(s) with 2 holes/o.v. for $150
4 bulkheads for $60
Acrylic covers for $70

What about the glass tops??

*Id like to order the tank ASAP - But need your guys thoughts on over flows - I believe the tank is Euro Braced. Ideally Id like Wall to wall overflows on each of the 24" side walls. From the inside of the house they would be covered behind drywall*

Ok Before I start asking anymore about Equipment This Will Likely be a FOWLR for now till i get this all figured out

I have two Major Concerns the DT will be in the wall with viewing from both rooms! NO SIDE viewing putting the Sump in the basement. So What about a pump that's efficient to pump the water back up about 8ft???

The Next major Concern Is the Display Tank Will see Temp swings from 45-50 upto 100F. The tank is going to sit in the garage (Already heated and cooled) with the front of the tank facing inside the house. The sump will be in the basement so that should cool the water down in the summer
