Looking great
Was just thinking what to do about my lights as well
My ceilings are vaulted so hanging is a stretch LOL and I can’t stand the washout from the blue lights,
Canopy I think it’s gonna be

Tank is IN! Currently being filled up as we speak.... won’t have enough pre made water but hopefully I can mix up enough overnight to fill it for move day tomorrow...

Some photos of course!

So yesterday was the big move day. Overall it went pretty smooth but the odd few hiccups along the way. Didn’t get everything done that I wanted but the tank is running and all the livestock seems happy in their new forever home! They looked so big in their old tank and now the look so small in this one, they also seem less shy even after just a couple of hours so I definitely think they are much happier in here.

I did lose the whip tail fairy wrasse and I’m still confused as to why, he was fine when I fought him then he went into the bucket with the rest to be acclimated and I assumed he was playing dead like fairy wrasse do in the bottom - was heavily breathing but again assumed it was normal. When he went into the tank he basically went straight to the bottom and within a few minutes was gone. Only explanation was perhaps he got stung by the Rabbitfish accidentally in the bucket as he was thrashing around a bit. Or it could have been stress but he went through TTM fine so something has gone wrong. I wonder if anyone else has any theories

Some photos of the transfer!

The tank as I was finishing up yesterday, still a lot to do:
- I need to find a way to get the kessils onto the hood
- Finish the mesh lid
- Setup the doser
- Fix the placement of the ATO
- Add the doors for the hood

And fix up some little things here and there

It looks great
Hope you don’t loose any other livestock
Congrats & enjoy
Rock work is really nice

Thanks mate - yeah really enjoying the rock work at the moment! Hopefully will add some more later on but this will do for now until coral real estate gets scarce lol

All the other inhabitants look fine so fingers crossed!

Quick front on shot of the tank today! Looking a bit bare but hopefully in a few weeks I’ll start adding some more fun things!

My only gripe so far is the top rock on the left. It seems it’ll cast a large shadow over the bottom pedestal rocks.

Other than that, nice work!

Yes I’m not loving it as much as I thought I would. But - lucky I have two Kessil a360s to go on that I will use to spotlight the bommie and the other large rock structure to avoid the shadowing - if I still don’t like it I might take the top bit off but I reckon it will look great covered in acros!

Love the footprint of this tank. I have long arms so 3' tall is okay for me .Your rock work looks awesome!

Thanks man! My arms are long but I can’t reach the bottom unless I get my ears wet haha.

Spent the night modifying to hood so I can add the kessils and also added the doors. Finally the transformation is complete! It’s not perfect but it’s a pretty good effort for me haha

So spent today setting up the coral quarantine tank - got a “cheap” radion which I thought would be good for it

Got a couple of nice acros and a large Monti plus a bunch of large troches snails and a couple of strombus snails

Hopefully they will last a few weeks before being clear for the display

So people ask why I QT snails as well as corals. Well other than Protozoa - today I found a big dirty aiptasia attached to the underside of one of my torchus snails..... didn’t see it when I was acclimating them even after a thorough check, it was only when the lights came on that is showed itself... lucky it was easy to pull off since they are in quarantine! Now to wait and see if anything else shows up in the meantime...
