Hello all, just wanted to begin on my tank thread. I've been in the hobby for three years and was able to come a long way in a short time because I am open minded and always willing to learn new things. Any ways I have three builds I will be taking pictures and will be going over a brief history on them. Remember to always quarintine and medicate all your new fish no matter how healthy they look when you get them. It is easy to do and having your quarintine up and running permanently 24-7 helps. I got a matching stand with mine and made it cute. I will also post pics of it.

I'm going to start with my 29 gallon solana cardiff. It was set up September 2012. I am using the stock equipment it came with. As for the disco pendant hqi, I put it over my 24 gallon jbj nano cube. I am running a 250 watt "fishneedit" metal halide pendant over my cardiff. And using a zoomed aqua cooling fan to keep the water temperature cool during the day. I seldom have water quality issues for I do good maintance and keep the tank very clean. Sometimes I get trace amounts if p04. At the beginning I had trouble finding the proper coral species for this tank.

Things were really starting to come around as I discovered which coral species favored the tank conditions.

this was January 2014. The corals were really loving the pink light as the bulb was going bad before I replaced it

It started off as a very simple build. A man made rock sitting against the back of the tank with a large tonga branch holding a large shelf rock. A year ago I discovered this would also be a good home to non photosynthetic coral because of the dark created by the over hang. I have had my chili corals for almost a year and they are still going strong. I also added a branching sun coral and orange tree coral as nps.

How does the NPS do for you? Do you have a feeding regime?

That is the strangest looking stalk of Xenia I have ever seen.

Cardiff is a great tank.

Yes cardiff is a very nice tank. I bought it used and it's still holding up. I feed the nps two to three times a week with reef roids, same thing I use to make my zoas grow, the sun coral is new and is being difficult about coming out but a tiny bit at night. I've had my chilis for almost a year, the orange tree is new as well and appears to have grown but is deflated in the photo at the time. The bali giant xenia grows from a large pink stock that can grow up to 7 inches.
