I did some background checks on these corals and to my knowledge they are all very similar corals. Fox Flame and Golden JD are likely even the same species. Knowing what they'd eventually look like I placed them tiered down for one another. FF at the top, Golden JD in the middle, and WWC Purple Candle at the bottom. If they continue to grow in and color up as planned this will be an awesome candle tip, garden of sticks.

Love the thread and all the updates. I just picked up an Ultimate Efflo on WWC's live sale (it's like a drug! haha), and can't wait to see what it becomes. Thank you for the pics!
The Ultimate Efflo has always been up there on my list. Such a unique piece. Goodluck with yours!

The growth/structure is pretty much identical. I got my FF and GJD from the same person at the same time, and there was a clear difference then. A few months ago I would have been questioning whether there was any difference, but now I am seeing the Golden JD pick up those golden colors where as FF is getting sort of maroon again.

One of the reasons I've really begun to enjoy photographing my corals is looking back at a piece over time, and seeing the changes.

This is WWC Pantera Rosa over about a 6 month period going through many changes, and tank conditions.

High nutrients - not exactly sure po4, no3 was 15-20ppm
IMG_7523.jpeg

Around the time I started using some po4 remover, as well as heavy skimming/cheato to bring down nutrients in this tank
IMG_7671.jpeg

no3/po4 rock bottom. Added a few more fish, pulled out pretty much all of the cheato, started feeding more
IMG_7674.jpeg

A month or so after heavier feedings with the additional fish. Tank starting to establish with low numbers.
IMG_7676.jpeg

Need an updated pic.. one of my favorite corals

That's a great timeline of photos. Gives me hope too, because I've had many (if not most) of my acro fras looking like that, and I've recently begun adding more fish and feeding heavier, so seeing the improvements in your piece gives me hope for my own.

Really like to see the water parameters with corresponding photo.
It can give some insight to color progression.
Might start doing it myself! Thanks for the idea.
Thanks, it is helpful for me personally to look back and see what the corals looked like in different conditions. I think it could be really beneficial if more people were to do it, but most reefers try to keep their systems as stable as they can so the corals might not undergo such drastic changes.

I post this piece often, but I am just becoming more, and more impressed with it. It has some wild colors under blues but I prefer this more natural look.

It's corals like this that remind me to have patience with idle frags. I sat on this one for over a year as a brown frag with no growth other than some slow encrusting.

BC Adam Bomb and mystery smooth skin that barely grows.

I have the same experiences it’s probably one my slowest grower although it has put down a decent base lately. Definitely unique in its own way though.

In that post I was referring to the nub of a frag to the left that is a painfully slow grower. My Adam Bomb is an okay grower, I'd say average for an acro. I'm still feeling that piece out, though. I may have it in too much light per my levels because the yellow tips are finicky on it and seem to come in on the lower branches, then disappear. It seem to be doing good health wise other than lacking some colors so I'll keep it there and make a frag when it's big enough to try in lower light.

Believe it or not this frag is pushing 2 1/2 yrs old now. I acquired this in early 2017 from a local. Quite possibly the nicest Microclados I've ever seen. Similar to SSC with all multi colored corallites. I'm feeling fortunate today to still have this piece as the mother colony is no more. It's been through hell but is finally showing some signs of a comeback.

It's not as common to find Aussie Highlighters (A. Aculeus) with dark contrasting polyps. I keep this one 575 par to maintain that icy white on the branches, lower light the whole piece looks like the base color. This one is getting choked out by the devils paly. Need to do some tank maintenance and trim/cover some of the weeds.
