Can you cut the rims on a 20 long?
It degrades on the structural integrity of the tank - I definitely don’t recommend doing it.

—-

You can glue it to a rock if you want.
I will probably glue it to a small rock, thanks!

—-

OH MY WORD.

I go the scarlet skunk to eat from the tweezers!!! I offered him a pellet, holding it in the tweezers, and he felt around for it and grabbed it! Ended up eating 2, hope I didn’t overfeed.

I really hope this guy learns to socialize. He is an amazing creature!
—-

Also, the clowns missed a pellet, and it landed smack dab on the zoa:

It closed around the pellet... should I be concerned??

Nope, coral eats fish food. They eat all kinda of stuff.
So right now, it’s eating that pellet? That’s wild!

—-

Should I purposely drop pellets on the heads from now on? (Some people “feed” their coral with fish food, but that just doesn’t seem right... )

I know some that drop pellets on torches. I heard it helps them grow faster. But there is also coral food like AB+ and phytoplankton. A lot smaller and easier for your coral to eat. Some good stuff to google.

On Amazon, it cost $60. I believe this would work?

Issue is I would have to wait for my next paycheck and that means no livestock or anything else for that matter.

Could I go ahead and start up the tank, with the live rock/live sand and the bottled bacteria? At least I could start the cycle and replace the regular water with RO water later.

I have this unit. Very user friendly. It is slow however. Couple hours nets about four gallons of water

Morning!

Hermit crab moved off the rock, and now I can’t find him.

The skunk was on the rocks, but darted back in his cave when I walked in:

Zoa opened up again:

I assume that means it liked the pellet? :p

I am noticing a LOT more color, than when I first got it!

How long are you running your lights?
13 hours, is this to much? I have the timer set so I don’t forgot.

I can easily change it if it’s to much or not enough.

—-

I haven’t noticed any more algae growth on the glass, but the algae on the rocks is kind of annoying.

—-

The hermit crab is still missing - my best guess is it’s molting? Which scares me, because I don’t have any other shells for it. :(

Found the hermit! (Not very active though. :/)

Shrimp found a new hiding spot:

Zoa has developed so much more color!!

Plan for today:

Wipe down the glass really good, to get rid of all that algae. I’m not getting any new algae, all of that is old. Does that mean I’m at the end of the “ugly stage”?

Also, any good ideas on how to get algae off of the substrate?
