Well I'm back at it again! I couldn't keep away from the hobby for long. The year and a half away from the hobby was nice from when I shut down my last reef, to move to another state. This also gave me a chance to start over and not make some mistakes I have done in the past, no I never crashed my system but mistakes were make. Hopefully I'll have less hitchhiker this time around.
I got interested in reef keeping over ten years ago, here is a link of pictures and info from what I had going on then https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/75-gal-mix-reef.172543/

Well here is a picture of my 29 gallon nano that I built. I filled it with saltwater on 4/22/2017

Here is a shot of my sump area...
No the Calcium reactor isn't hooked up yet. I have some gear from my last tank being used with this setup. Oh and yeah it's a diy 10g sump I made lol... May upgrade it in the future.

I tried to use my tunze ATO but it's way old and the float switch became defective making an annoying alarm sound and auto shut down mode making it useless.

Here is a customized Nano overflow box from marinedepot, so far so good. I'm going to program a fail safe with the DA reefkeeper.
Crossing my fingers no accidental overflow happens.

I seeded the sump with some algae to help keep hair algae in check when I add fish. I'm keeping the tank fishless and no corals for 72 days after I seeded the sump. All in the order of quarantine.

I have a fairly new 29g myself. No sump or skimmer but I just ordered a HOB fuge for it. What are your stocking plans? I have a clown fish now and I'd love to get a flame angel, still doing research on wether or not that's safe, and the fiancé likes bengai cardinal fish so I'll end up with one of those as well.

Lol yeah my wife wants bengai cardinal fish also so yeah one of them. I have a purple dottyback in my quarantine tank, haven't uploaded pics yet. Also im thinking of two clownfish one black and white and one orange and white captive-bred morphed patterns kind. (Can't spell true name type osc...??)
As of coral I'm thinking lots of Lps acans and such, what ever catches my eyes at the LFS.
Inverts... giant clam, snails that can upright themselves, Peppermint shrimp
But mostly whatever catches my eye

Following along! The 29 gallon I had was probably my favorite tank I've ever set up

First I use Seachem Cupramine (copper) as directed, to kill external parasites like Ich.
Then I do a 100% water change in my ten gallon hospital tank.
I will then use PraziPro for everything else like deworming and flukes.
Then ill quarantine in a 20 gallon tank for 30 day's to see if the fish develops any signs of sickness.
After I add all my fish, Im planning to use my 20 gallon quarantine tank as a frag tank. I'll coral dip and watch for any hitchhikers for 72 days of a fishless frag tank.

My first tank I added bomb proof corals like Kenya trees, GSP, frogspawn. But I made a mistake on taking the wife to the LFS, now she wants all the pretty colorful stuff this time around.
I already had my old tank before we got together, and the tank was already overgrown to add anything to the tank. The Kenya trees do not uproot without taking the rock with it.

I picked these two yesterday, they're not a mated pair but I hope they will bond and possibly breed.
