starting a mixed reef and don’t know if there is a significant advantage to having the 26’s over a small tank.

Personally I like the 26hds coloration over the primes. The 26hds allow you more power so for higher light required corals (certain sps) I’d say it leaves your options more open but at a higher price point for the hydras you could easily achieve the max needed with 3 primes. I have 2 prime hds and I want to switch over to 2 hydra 26hds mainly for the look of the color blend that I’ve seen achieved on a buddy’s tank.

thank you for the advice guys, definitely going to get a pair of hydra 26s. just need to decide what kind of flow for my tank now, a single maxspect gyre or a couple of typical wave makers.

I had an MP 40 on my 40B in Reef crest mode maxed at 45-50%. Corals loved it. A gyre would create great flow in a 40B. I run a 250 along with my MP 40 in my 75. I can only run it around 30% or I have a sand storm (caribsea special grade)
