Your talking about the sand I assume. Depends on how thick you want the sand bed. If you want DSB then I think the minimum would be 6” deep. My little tank has about 1.5” or so of crushed coral.

My two other tanks which are 12 gallons have 20 lbs in both and it looks nice but thick given the size of the cubes, volume is about 10 gallons of water. So, I wanted opinions for this 30 gallon which I just used one 20 lbs bag. So, you would say just a bit more? Say another 10 lbs only?Your talking about the sand I assume. Great question. I built this tank for temperate use had it all insulated and ready to reef. I literally been running it almost 1 month burning electricity awaiting for CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF FISH AND GAME to let me know what type of license I require to receive livestock from MATSU collection which has a permit to sell. Why’d you give up on the cold water?
Thanks... Looking forward to the conversion with elegance, torch and frogspawns.Looks good
As soon as KP Aquatics emails me that live rock are back in stock, I will update my thread with 30 or 40 lbs of live rock, I think I might go with the 30 lbs since I have 40 lbs of live sand in there already.Looking forward to this!!
OMG! You have cursed me with that statement. Along with all that life, might I add I still have the orange sponges alive, I have brought in a lot of pest. Clicking sounds all the time but they never show who they are, mantis or pistol. Then I have vermitid snails, and bristle worms, a translucent flat worm and many tiny bristle stars with one being large that I allowed him to stay, since he was about the size of a small chocolate star fish. I have since siphoned out several flat worms and pulled off sandbed bristle worms, they are easy.Did you find any unwanted creature/pests in the KP rocks?
