DAILY QUESTION: What’s one reefing experiment you want to try in 2025?
Im contemplating adding some sand from a local beach near me.. that said, I live in maine and I wonder if the cold Atlantic water is so much different than my reef tank that everything, including the bacteria would die? Maybe I should go all out and do it legit and invest in a microscope and try it in a separate tank that I bring up to reef temps/parameters without the addition of any other life?

Whiteworm culture to feed, basically everything, but especially a CBB and mandarin.

I had no idea reef fish would eat white worms. I mean I don’t know why it wasn’t a given but…. I wonder if they’d like grindals too.

I'm keeping white worms and black worms right now, TBH, white worms are a PITA compared to black worms. You need a wine fridge (they need to be kept around 60ish degrees), a substrate which needs to be changed, etc. etc. If the substrate isn't sterile, you'll wind with critters. Then, when you go to feed, you need to wash all the soil off the worms. I use the plastic crochet sheets as a "plate" which is supposed to make that procs easier, but in my experience it doesn't. Black worms you can get a Sterilite tub, some pea gravel, an inexpensive HOB filter, you suck 'em up with a turkey baster, and you're good to go.
