Official entry: Planning to upgrade to a bigger system which will need a new light to cover a greater surface area.
Thanks for the giveaway!

@BristleWormHater daily tag bonus and hoping your move has gone according to plan. Hope you didn’t leave any fish in a box stuck in a corner to find 10 years later when you move
Luckily everything went well, the tank is actually doing better since the move. That scenario seems oddly specific, you hidin something?

DAILY QUESTION: Do you currently use supplemental lighting, and if so, what’s your setup?
I dont use any supplemental lights at the moment. My tank is the perfect size for my icon, and if I need more light, I could just increase its intensity. I'm not sure how I would add any supplemental lights if I wanted to with my current set up.

I really want to build a new stand out of t-slots. I would include a connected canopy so I would have the option to add supplemental lights if I wanted to.

DAILY QUESTION: Have you ever experienced issues with algae growth due to lighting, and how did you solve them?
I've experienced uncontrollable algae twice in my reefing life, and the first time definitely was because of lighting.

The first time was my very first tank 30 gallon (and before I discovered r2r). We had 2 clowns, an azul damsel, and a blue spot puffer. I had a light I got of Amazon that was white light only, but it did have a timer. I also had the tank upstairs where it was able to get a lot of natural light. I ran the light from 12-8. It was a forest. While O tested nitrate, I didn't test PO4 (out of ignorance) which I could only guess was through the roof. While I had snails they couldn't keep up. I got rid of it by starting over when I upgraded to a 55 gallon. New to me equipment, new sand, new rocks, appropriate lighting, and testing equipment. I had just discovered r2r because I brought home a fish that gave all the fish ick, and I didn't know what to do.

The second time I don't think was because of my lighting, and I removed the offending items, got live sand from tbs, and the issue was solved.

DAILY QUESTION: What’s your top priority: coral growth, color, or ease of use when it comes to lighting?
My top priorities are ease of use and growth. I want all light that is easy to figure out, and adjust as needed. I feel real accomplished when I see new polyps pop up.

I mean all of the above really. But If I could pick only one I guess it would be color. No good having a brown or pale stick thats huge.

To ensure good growth by not getting lazy or complacent in testing, making sure I can address any parameter issues are handled before they get out of control.

Yep, 100 percent and friend suggested doing the most obvious thing cutting back my phto period, and that totally fixed it.
