Just wanted to started a thread of people with 32 gallon biocubes! And also to ask questions and learn from everyone. But was wondering how much of a water change and how often has everyone been doing it. I try to do 4 gallons every week and at the latest every 2 weeks. And what’s everyone’s clean up crew I have 4 snails and 4 hermits so far.

Here’s mine. I usually do a 4.5 gallon water change every two weeks. I’ve found keeping nutrients high provides better polyp extension.

CUC is probably about 12 hermits, 2 peppermint shrimp, and a snail or two here or there.

As of today dealing with some suspected BJD on the candycanes, might have to take them out conditions don’t improve.

BJD? Still using stock lighting? And what wavemaker do you have? But nice! I just started my tank a little more then 6 weeks ago. I put a clown in on its 4th week and the 5th week 4 hermits and 4 snails and a six line wrasse which is a pretty dope fish to have and also that same day I put in 8 frags zoanthids cause I found a guy doing a good deal on them on fb only cost 80 bucks for the frags.

My first reef tank. I set it up on December first. I’ve had a few issues but overall it is doing well. I found two pieces of aiptasia hiding so I added two peppermint shrimp this afternoon. I think the neon dottyback has killed a couple of hermit crabs. I hope he doesn’t get the shrimp. I can’t decide what else to add fish wise. Im thinking cardinals. I’ll see what happens with the aiptasia before I add any corals.

This is ours. Been running about a year now. Have had some ups and downs but overall going well.

We do about 4 gallons of WC weekly although it turns into 6 gallons every 10 or so days more often than I’d like to admit.

My BC32 setup- change maybe 4 gallons every 3-4 weeks. I feed heavily and rely on a GFO reactor and a fuge to keep my PO4 in check, but my system processes NO3 very efficiently, I need to dose ESV NO3. To offset lack of water changes I dose ESV B-Ionic Transition Elements daily and Aquavitro Fuel twice weekly, on top of BRS 2 part.

So being new to a reef tank, how often should I do water changes if my water parameters are good?

Definitely a loaded question and all depends on stock, feeding schedule, dosing method, etc etc… But as very general advice, starting out I would stick with once a week to make sure you’re replenishing you’re system with trace elements and reducing nutrient levels until you get to know your system better.

Here is ours. We got it used and stocked with fish, GSP, two leather corals, inverts and a bad GHA problem. Seems like the previous owner did little to no maintenance. We have been spending a little over a month doing lots of water changes and maintenance to try to get rid of the GHA and stabilize the parameters. Once I feel confident we have tackled that, I’d like to start adding some easy soft corals.

The Biocube skimmer works very well (version 2 - not airstone) I've been dumping crud I never imagined could have been there. I posted a thread on it but can't find for some reason. Your tank looks great!

Ya this is probably the best thing to do cause I was doing weekly now I’m starting to do every 2 weeks and honestly might go up from there but I only have 3 fish and I just started feeding them a lot more to see if things will even go up but I think between my fish and cuc and bio media everything gets ate up.

Here’s my cube. Been running for like 6 months but had a previous cube that cracked before this one. Your cuc is way underpowered imo. I have 20+ cerith snails, 4 banded trochus, 4 spiny astrea, like 20 nassarius and 7 hermit crabs. And a fighting conch. I only do a water change once a month of about 4-5 gallons.

Edit: Added some more pics because you can’t see everything from one angle.
