Hi all, I was out of the hobby for some time. About 2 months ago I adopted a well established and very neglected biocube (it was difficult to even see through the glass). The previous owner was going through major medical issues and was having a hard time juggling personal health and the tank so, my wife and I decided to help out. Not having a place for it, we put it in our utility room in the basement. Not ideal to enjoy it but, ideal to get it back in stable condition (water changes) by being so close to utility tub. The corals were used to that environment so it took a while to get them happy again. Not happy with rock scape but I had to have it this way due to the existing coral placement.

Have 2 clowns and a diamond sleeper goby. The sleeper goby in my opinion was the best investment that we made for this tank, he has cleaned the sand(tank was a mess for about a week) and he eats frozen, pellets and flake food :p

Even though it was rough getting it to the correct parameters, it was worth it! We will be looking into a larger AIO in the future.

Thanks all

Tank is beautiful great job saving it I agree there is way too much GSP however at the rate you’re going the tank will be spectacular in no time beautiful colonies of zoanthus ! I’m in a similar situation started my reef tank over again which also is a a cube sat for 10 years with rock and water only two months ago!

Thank you, previous owner loved the GSP! I had removed about 2 palm size chunks before taking those pictures, lol.

update: still trying to clean-up star polyps without getting rid of the rock, I am making it look worse.... might end up loosing that battle.
the chalice needs to to be trimmed and fragged, too big for the tank IMO.

corals are doing much better and Zoa's are multiplying.

I tried the Coralife skimmer for a little over a month..... you get what you pay for. I cleaned it and put it into storage. I figured with my weekly water changes I will be good.
