Man, is it ever nice having 9 ft ceilings in the basement! Definitely a luxury I’m blessed to have! Just need to finish the bulk head , then all the “hard work” is done!

Looking good!!! You have all this time off, better use it wisely!!

Pro tip for those about to attempt a drywall job like this in the future..

With tall ceilings either stand sheets up or if running sheets horizontal, place the fill in strip in the middle of the wall. This makes taping a thousand times easier ;Smuggrin :)

Today I have a good friend coming over to wire in the 3 dedicated circuits. Why 3 you ask? Redundancy.

1 20 amp for the sump, return pump and heater.
1 20 amp for the wave makers and a secondary heater.
1 15 amp for the lights

what’s this mean? If the sump goes out, there will be heat and flow in the tank, if the wave makers go out , there will be heat and flow in the tank... no matter what there will be light as well.

This is going to be an awesome build! Have you checked out any of the orphek lights? Just installed a couple of a 260 display tank and they look awesom

I have 4x orphek OR3 blue plus bars, going to add 4 more eventually and then the 4 ghl mitras down the centre of the tank . I have 2 ghl mitras for the frag tank as well but that will be supplemented by t5

Looks like you got the new tank project underway.
I just started a 300 (96x30x24)build to replace my 140.

Good thinking, I've got my tank on 3 circuits as well and I'm not worried at all about the tank crashing due to a breaker tripping, power outage... well that's a different story

Haha well, I have battery back ups for the Mp40s lol the top 2 any ways
Thats a good start. I'll have battery backups on my new build as well. Just until my generator kicks in. I live in Florida so nasty afternoon thunderstorms and brushes with hurricanes tend to take the power out. Fortunately for us, I installed a 48kw Kohler generator on our house last year. I now only lose power for about 30 seconds before it fires up and transfers over.

Luckily I haven’t experienced a power outage in years. Even with out insane snow falls and tornados lol
