I have a standard 75 that I'm in the process of building (upgrading from a 40B). I currently have a pair fo Hydra 26HDs, and want to add T5's. What are your thoughts on a 36" vs a 48"? If anyone has pics of a 36" over a 4 ft tank that would be awesome.

Personally, I would go with the 48. That way you're covered for the entire tank. The T5's while they're great as a supplement, they don't put out a power house of par.

I guess my main concern is spillage. I want to hang the lights about 10-12" over the tank for better spread of the 26's. I've never ran T5's so I'm flying blind on this one.

If spillage is your primary concern, then definitely go with the 36. I noticed on my 40 breeder which is 36 inches, which I had the 36" fixture over, there was alot of spillage which doesn't bother me personally, but others it may :) I was going for maximum coverage.

I have the 48" over my standard 75, I'm using 4 Kessil 160's with it.

The fixture is at 11" from the water surface to give you an idea of the spillage.

What size did you end up going with?

Standard 48x24x24? I’d definitely suggest a 48” fixture.
Yea. 48"×24"×24" thanks for the input....I'll be pairing the aquatic life hybrid with 2 xr15, its gonna be a slow transition from what I have now (6 bulb t5 with 2 - 24" atinic led light bars). I'll get the aquatic life hybrid fixture first, then sit on that while I save for the first xr15. Once I have 1 xr15 I'll do the switch and a month or 2 later I'll add the second xr15.
