Hello there
For those of you who knew me before welcome back. For the new folks my name is Anthony from Irvine ca. My old tank was a 360g peninsula staghorn dominated reef tank.
During the pandemic i have an power outage and the tank crashed. I was able to sell and give away most of my sps and only keeping fish only for 2 years from 2020-2021.
But once a reefer always a reefer so I restarted the tank in the beginning of Jan 2022.
The new tank is quite different. Its no longer peninsula but a traditional front to back set up. Now i can really appreciate the 36” deep.
Tank is aquascape with reef rock branch and arch. And for the light i went with 4x neptune sky and 6x kessil 360x.
Since its an angel dominated reef tank i need heavy export to control nutrients produce by 10 angels and 10 tangs.
Zeovit dosing, algae scrubber and large skimmer taking care of the bio load. I also set up 1g wc everyday to keep up with trace elements. Instead of ca reactor im running a kalk reactor for high ph and keeping the alkalinity stable.
For now there’s only frags in the tank so the alk uptake is minimal no needs to run ca reactor. Below is the list of equipment
AQUARIUM
96”x36”x24” 360g AA acrylic tank
LIGHTING
4x neptune sky
6x kessil 360x

FLOW
2x mp60
5x jebao sow 20
1 tunze wave box
1 tunze 6085

SKIMMER
vertex a300

ALGAE REACTOR
Clear water c300

RETURN PUMP
Red dragon

CONTROLLER
Hydros, Apex and GHL

SUMP
Custom sump by AA

CA REACTOR
Dual chamber reef octopus, Alan Lee custom regulator and masterflex pump.

FRAGS TANK
2x 100g shallow tank. One run with T5. One run with led.

Well that’s for now more will come

The new

The old

Yes good luck with the angels, although they are nice looking. I just spent 2 days (16) hours trying to catch a Coral Beauty because he was picking at my corals.

The new setup looks great. Can’t beat a queen and a French, some of the best angels out there.

Will be interesting to see how they behave with the coral over time.
So far so good my sps are both frags and colonies and they haven’t touch it yet. The key is 8x a day on auto feeder and some flakes and frozen. I haven’t try to put my meat corals in yet since i think they will nip it.

Tank is 8 months old and so far so good. I have both frags and colonies in the tank.
The feeding schedule of 10x a day help to keep them busy. However this time the angels are the stars of the tank. Sps has been there so now they can sit back :)

I’ve been wanting to do an emperor and 3 regals but have been concerned about them nipping. Do you have any clams? That’s another concern I’ve had adding large angels.

No clam i do have some meat coral that i will try however i think they will nip it. As far as torches , sps for me are safe. I do have some zoa and mushroom but they dont touch it
The key is multiple feeding through out the day to keep them busy.

Beautiful setup . Following along to see how you keep angels from munching corals .

I am in a similar position , I lost all my sps when I upgraded from the leaking 90 gal to the 230

I haven’t got back into corals yet other than the palys and Xenia .

I have a juv emperor which I’ve never had any issues picking at sps or the few softies .
I just recently added a blue ring angelfish which hasn’t picked at anything yet . But he’s very shy .
Can you keep most angelfish with sps ?

Its all about the feeding schedule that u provide. I found out if i spread out my feeding to multiple small feeding that will keep the angel busy and full therefore they dont nip at sps. I haven’t try clam and meat corals yet.
Actually the dwarf angel pick at sps more than the larger one.

Great looking angelfish, I always live the large angelfish, just don’t have the large tank.
