Hello from Iowa!

Excited to be back in the hobby now that I have purchased a home to setup a more permanent site for my tanks. This system has been operational for about 6mo now and has proven promising! Most all of my corals are adjusting wonderfully apart from about half of my zoas... Not sure what their deal is but they are unhappy with the move to say the least.

I have been in the hobby for around 4 years in total and have moved from very bare bones simply setups to more intricate and self-maintaining systems such as this. Still have plenty of bugs to work out but enjoying every step of the way :)

Frag System:
-Dual Stacked 180g Eurobraced Displays (96x24x18ish)
-Bottom 180g functions as 2/3 Frags and 1/3 Sump
-Vectra L1 Return
-4 Icecap Gyres
-Uline Pallet rack stand
-Radion XR30 and XR15Pros Lighting
-Full Apex Autonomy and Control w/ Trident
-Kalk Reactor (Calcium Reactor ready when necessary)
-Dosing Acropower and feeding Mysis and Pods

Display System: (Coming Soon)
-120g Lowboy 3/4" Starfire Display (96x24x10sih)
-Stand TBD
-Vectra M1 Return
-Dedicated 33g Long Sump w/ water mixing in from Frag System for stability
-Radion XR15Pros Lighting

Welcome! Glad you joined. I've found different zoas like very different things. You don't list nitrate or phosphate numbers, but those and/or feeding may be root cause why they aren't doing as well as your other zoas. Some of my zoas love to be fed, some of mine seem only to ever care about light (and are our slowest growers). I've got great variety of food I feed my fish, but often I'll disperse it directly at corals knowing fish will get everything that drifts away (and if corals aren't fast (are they ever? no) then fish may get that as well.

Have you considered starting your build thread? I found its a great place to document my tank's evolution for myself. I started tank first then joined, so I'm still finding myself going back collecting pictures & updating historically as well as current state. Once you create your first post in your thread and link it to your account, they will give you build badge (look left, under my ID)

This might help you find people local to you:

This is a good reference book type online article I still review:

Little update!

Still need my dslr lens kit to show up to set the white balance higher but here are some updated photos.

Moved everything from the rack to some trial rockscapes. Not too sure how I like it but shall see. Everything is packed in to the rocks and looks a little cluttered but nicer than egg crate racks!

Bottom just has some left over zoas and mushrooms that need some TLC

Well after a serious power outage and a system restart be are back in business!

System now has a beefy 400ah battery backup/3kw inverter charger capable of running the tank for a couple days without juice as well as a generator fast charge if necessary. Wish I would have spent the money sooner but such is life...

Many new frags to the system as well!
