Dosing my 40 gallon breeder with fluconazole from Reef Flux HD. I have had this terrible algae plaguing me for the longest time and I've finally started to try some things to get rid of it.

First was a manual removal and water change. I tried to get as much of it as I could, but the clownfish kept biting me and I couldn't get much (just looked over and I see them spawning... again). I kept the refugium w/ chaeto running, as there is a good chance there is bryopsis in there.

The point of this thread is to show daily photos of how the tank progresses after having added the proper dosage of fluconazole added (per the reef flux instructions: 4 pills for 40 gallons dissolved in another container).

Here is before manual removal and directly after. I did some scape adjustments as well.

Here is day 1 from different angles. This was directly after dosage (hence the 0hr mark). I'll be uploading these same angles everyday.

Day 3. The duncan is not closed due to the treatment but because this was taken right after lights turned on.

Day 9. Doesn't look like much of anything is happening. Waste of money so far.

In order for it to work the GHA has to grow--turn up the lights. I've used it many times over decades, I find that at least a 4 week treatment is needed, by the2nd/ 3rd week you can suck a lot of the GHA out with a syringe. I use twice the dose recommended right from the start.

I'm using this to rid of bryopsis. Lights are high.

My treatment killed bryopsis pretty quick. So do you guys do anything once treatment is done in terms of water changes or anything else or just leave it alone?

Got a treatment going in 1 of my tanks right now for GHA. This Wednesday will be 5 weeks of treatment and the end of treatment(all GHA is gone). At that time I will run activated carbon and Friday do a 20% water change(this tank gets a 20% water change every Friday-10 gallon Nano with no skimmer). Also during the 5 weeks of treatment every Friday when I did a water change I re-dosed- the complete dose( you really can't overdose Fluconazole.

OP-- how's your treatment going---new pictures?

Day 10.
I plan on doing 2x 10% water changes after day 15 (so on day 16), running the skimmer for a day, and redosing the entire tank with 60gal worth. Any bad effects of overdosing? Tank is 40gal but I have 6 pills left so might as well if there are no side effects. I have seen none on the coral or fish so far for proper dosage.
