From everything I’ve read the jamming of this device was most the time from people not properly route the fleece. Directions for doing it are not that simple and could easily be read and done wrong. 2 other things where causing issues . 1 was the original units where built with a weak motor since then been upgraded to 11rpm and fixed and second is if you new roll of fleece gets wet or damp gives motor a harder time to turn so don’t get new fleece role damp or wet.
I agree. That’s what I saw when I first assembled it. You need to make sure the fleece is centered and straight on the motor roll. I just got them in yesterday. Time will tell. One thing I can tell already, they are not maintenance free. Every time you change the fleece, they probably need a good cleaning.

And at the bottom in center there is a bar or roller not sure if goes over or under that. I believe klir should have put out some kind of drawn diagram that shows side view of unit and properly routed fleece

Trying to figure out a way to make it work on my Reefer 350 v3 sump with minimal modification. I really want to pick one up if I can make it work.
Not sure wat Red Sea sump I have but this is how I made it work in my Red Sea sump . You need to build a dam in your sock area so the water can rise when fleece is dirty to trip optical sensor I found some 2” thick blocks of acrylic and milled out to fit then siliconed it in

I’m assuming this worked extremely well?

what’s the possibility of selling one? But 2 wide for 2 sock sections?

This is probably in hopes of getting all the current inventory out there used up before they put out the new one with all the fixes. They have actually worked the bugs out and most people that stuck with them and have the new parts are very happy with them.

Fixes so far:
1. New more powerful motor - solved 90% of most problems
2. New beveled edges on body
3. New controller
4. New eye - lots of people installed their apex eye and had 0 issues
5. Beefier roller that holds the filter material

Up until now they’ve responded to just about everyone’s problems with these upgrades and people are loving them. Problem is they are relying on the consumer to call and inquire, rather than have the vendors fix all the units or coralvue recall all their units.

So now I’m sure they are wanting to get all that old stock gone. If you curious if you have a new motor - new motor is blue and should say 11rpm on it instead of 3rpm.

This is the thread that has the updates

I am a happy user since it release, I have the original k-4 and has been running fine since. Yes the original one may have those issues with motor and controller but once it dial in it is fine. You just have to clean it when you change the roll and make sure it align right so it doesnt jam. I have filter floss on the first cup so mine last about 2-3 months. If i am lazy not changing the floss on first cup, the Klir will trap More stuff

Just wanted to chime in here... I also bought one for my new IM 50 EXT build. Installed it a week or so ago, but it wasn't until today that the water level rose high enough to trigger the sensor. Once it did all I got was a beeping controller, but no floss winding onto the take-up spool.

I pulled the unit and checked to make sure the floss wasn't binding anywhere. The only resistance when I try to wind the take-up spool is from the motor itself. I've contacted CoralVue so we'll see what happens next.
