Absolutely stunning! Needs some coral! Can't wait to see this progress. It is a massive, yet beautiful, build.

Well she's done :)
My gut instincts to move everthing over immed was a good one
From above the fish all looked ok
Well start break down & catching it was a hole different story
6 of the fish had Popeyes - obviously from poor water quality
They lacked vibrancy & colour was almost non existent
Yet from above view I new there was aggression but could not see lack of health

So the cycle began
And although a challenge I feel I am doing exactly what's been needed

People might also say - idiots
That's fine
Yes - we added 2 more yellow tangs
Powder blue & bristle tooth

I did not want to be stuck with this huge tank in 3 months time with an established gang & not be able to add what we wanted

img_2001-jpg.56538

The purple is the clear leader of the yellows & they are schooling beautifully together & so far NO aggression

I am using stability & prime to get through this cycle & testing daily
The water is very cloudy due to the bacteria being added but sechem assures me it will clear once colonies become established

Here are some pics
Unfortunately the iPhone makes everthing blue
But I hope you enjoy

Beautiful tank! So much room for your fish to swim I bet they are all happy! Congrats on turning a disaster into one gorgeous tank you can enjoy for many years!

Thumbs up on the aquascape:). The openness plays well for the fish to grow and swim to their hearts content.

Thanks to everyone for the lovel comments

I am doing 50ltrs a day auto wc
Which in the scheme of things seem like nothing
Total fill volume is 3580ltr

Day 1
Ammonia 1.5
Nitrites 0
Nitrates 0

Day 2
Ammonia 1
Nitrites 0.02
Nitrates 0.02

Day 3
Ammonia 0.25
Nitrites 3
Nitrates 4

Day 4
Ammonia 0
Nitrites 3
Nitrates 4

Will continue to test daily but to be honest am maybe not expecting a huge spike in anything with this volume of water
Will also continue stability & prime for 2 weeks as recommended by Seachem
Prime was. Precautions for 1 week according to the instruction but I will continue while any nitrites are testing positive
Thank you once again
Think this is going to be ok

Good Luck Lesley, Hopefully it will be smooth sailing from here. A tank failure like you had and overcame is something we all worry about.

Wow. I've been following this for a while but never commented. This is fantastic. I could only dream of something this magnificent. I look forward to the progress this tank makes!

Lesley, have you any other plans to add more fish? Also, how much evaporation do you have per day? Just beautiful all the way around.

No more fish
No these are all juveniles & as you prob know grow large so although the tank looks big & empty
Once we have corals & fish are few years bigger
I don't think will have the room
Evap to date is about 49-55ltrs a day
Thank you :)

I would say the fish are much happier?
Need some help please
White / brown water
Assuming bacteria bloom
With high flow diatoms suspended too
Should this not be clearing by now ?
It's thick eg can't see fish if swimming fish other side of tank
Will this clear once I stop dosing stability?
I have a large uv & carbon ready to go
Will I upset the cycle with both of either ?
Have Increase surface agitation & wet skimming to increase oxygen as I know these blooms can deplete !
Any advice greatly appreciated
Thanks

yea do that. It should not be brown.

stop all dosing yes. Tests ammoina, hit a powerhead to the surface just for good measure and extra air.
Will I upset the cycle with both of either ?
nope its fine.
