Just got the tank, came with lots of stuff including light, 6 bulb 54 watt 48” t5 fixture , tank, sump, rock, live sand, stand, salt, and more for $300.

Needs a good cleaning and refinishing of stand, but it should look great after.

I will try to keep this as updated as possible, and get my homework done early for you guys.

So the tank came with a Rubbermaid storage container filled with rocks

I’m not sure if there is copper or not in it but what is a good safety measure to make sure there isnt any?

I was planning on soaking in vinegar

Just need to wipe out the tank again, and I will start to work on the stand tonight.

I will give it a good sanding, replace the bottom and door hinges, prime and seal it with killz, and do 1 or 2 coats of either white or off white.

might be able to get it cycling next weekend!!

If I recall, the Oceanic tanks had a raised logo on front side the frame. I think it was glued to the frame so you may see residue if the logo is not there. Man, I remember drooling over Oceanic tanks when they were hot :)

So stocking plans(so far)
I kinda love tangs....
FYI, I probably won’t do a full on cycle, but put all sand and rock in from my 40g that has been up for 7 months, and also put in the 40lbs of live sand, still in package that I got with the tank.

update on my tomini tang:
He is doing very well now, doing more than my cuc ever did in cleaning, and eating like a pig

I am quarantining fish that I have had problems with in the past including tangs and more delicate fish

1st wave:
2 clownfish
Royal gramma

2nd wave:

A Tang(Small hippo, sailfin, or pretty much anything)

3rd wave:
Diamond goby
Possum wrasse
Miscellaneous fish

4th wave:
Last tang and/or long nose butterfly

Final: when my tomini gets too big for my 40 mixed reef, he will be going in here
