Have you had any issues with baby strombus getting into your gyres?

Ive debated on adding some collonistas to a tank that I have gyres in but i'm not sure if I want to deal with that hassle.

Not in the gyres, but they do occasionally get in the skimmer pump - I cleaned 4 out of the impeller today. It’s been months since I cleaned the skimmer pump though, no idea how long they’ve been in there.

They also get in the return line and rattle around until they get spit out.

So far everything is good with the Dosetronic. I ran SDA a few times to adjust the dosing schedule, looks like it's pretty well dialed in.

Flow seems to be good, I'm still using OGC mode. I'll give it a few days and see if there's any detritus piling up and adjust from there. In addition to cleaning them, I replaced the bushings. I forgot how loud these can be until broken in...maybe I'll look at the gyre 300s or Reef Octopus Pulse 2.

The 300 gyres and the octo pulses are weird. I have heard both be loud, and both be very quiet. My Pulse 4s are pretty quiet. Maybe it has to do with break in like you are finding with your gyres.

How wide is the flow on the pulse? I've had Tunze, Ecotech, Jebao, and Sicce in the past, and I think I like the gyre's wide flow pattern the best.

My Pulse 4s are somewhat narrow for longer tanks, but I think the Pulse 2s are wider. I don’t have any Pulse 2s so I can’t compare directly. Maybe someone else has them and can compare?

I think the really wide sheet of flow like the gyres will be the widest.

Gyres didn’t work out on the back wall, but I think these Reefbreeders RPM pumps will. Easy to setup, as close to silent as any pump I’ve had any very wide flow. Tank temp has increased, they appear to be generating more heat than the gyres. I’m ok with that though, this great article from Ron Shimek alleviated my fears about higher water temps. http://www.ronshimek.com/salinity_temperature.html

The damsels are down from a trio to a pair. I haven't found the missing fish and I don't think it would have gotten out through the mesh lid. My guess is an urchin picked it up.

Part one of the cleanup is complete, Alkatronic, Dosetronic, and dosing containers all inside the stand now. I’m so glad I had @Tankme USA put that divider panel in. I used PVC board from Lowe’s to make the shelves.

@MarineDepot controller board is mounted to the wall, GHL stuff should be here next week. I still need to figure out where to mount the ATO and run the line from the garage RODI reservoir through the attic down to the tank.

Getting there but still a lot of cleanup to do. GHL products seem to be very well made. I added a pH card for the Alkatronic, I really like how similar to a PC the Profilux seems.

I ended up returning them and putting the gyres back in. They started to make some noise and the tank was running 3-4* hotter with them. Nice flow but didn't work out for me.
