Were they both loud or just one of them? I currently run 230 gyres on my reefer 250 and kind of wanted to add 2 pumps on the back to create more turbulent flow. Maybe im just flow crazy!

Both :(, but I'm a weirdo about sounds. Best way I can describe it is one made a sound like rod knock, the other like belt squeak.

Trying Tunze 6040s, quiet so far and seem to move a lot of water. Should all but disappear when they get coralline on them.

If you decide to try gyres again mounting them up and down in the corners of the tank. This has done well for me in my 25g lagoon. The lower half shoots straight forward towards the front glass and the upper half is angled in across the rock face. I get tons of flow this way.

Any experts able to determine the gender of this radial filefish from the pic?

It's been a while between updates. The tank went through a bad phase, turf algae, GHA, a bunch of the coral didn't make it. Silver lining is room for more frags :p.

I redid the rock, switched it all out for Stax. Switched to Reefi lights, @danlu_gt has an awesome product and support. I'll eventually learn how to take pics that aren't all blue!

I tried to keep this tank all captive bred fish, but I couldn't resist adding a Pink Streaked Wrasse and White Banded Possum Wrasse. To minimize the chance of bringing anything undesirable into the tank, I got them conditioned from @Dr. Reef . Easy process, fair prices, and fish arrived looking healthy! They started eating immediately and have been in the tank for 2 weeks or so with no issues.

I really like my Deltec 600i, but since the tank is in a smaller room, the smell started to get unbearable. I tried a Lifereef for a week or so, it performed well, but was a really tight fit in the sump and made more noise than I prefer. I put the Deltec back in, hooked up a silicon hose and micro ball valve to draw air from the cup, no more smell! Other side of the tee is drawing air from the attic.

Tank went through a rough patch. Turf algae, lost some coral, but the blaze digi didn't seem to mind.

Switched out all the rock with Stax, coralline has covered it pretty quickly. I'd like to think the ReeFi lights and TM All for Reef have been positive additions!

Things have stabilized, it will be time for a Battlebox before it gets too hot here in SC.

I pulled pretty much all the Stax Rock I had in the Chalice tank ,, the problem I ran in to was ,, I started having a Aptisia problem in the tank ,, all the holes in the rock turned into homes for Aptisia spores ,, I really didn't need the rock in the tank because of all the Bio Sphears I have in the sump system ,,, removed as many of the corals from the Stax's Rock as I could and mounted them to 4" frag disk ,, I did leave one rock scape in the tank for a fish hiding place ,, large shelf piece of rock sit on top of a few pieces of Stax Rock ,, I will mount more corals to the top of the shelf rock ,, maybe Acans at some point ,,

I have a tankmeusa peninsula coming in May.
Is your lid made by reef tops and would you change anything about your lid design?
Thank you.

Nice, I hope you enjoy your tank as much as I do mine!

Lid was made by https://safetoplids.com/, the only thing I'd change is maybe a bigger feed door. I definitely recommend the vented frame though, no condensation at all.
