Had tear down and sell my two year reef tank because I did not trust myself to move it all from North Carolina to Ohio and not have major losses. Here’s hoping I can have a cleaner more stable tank this time around!

I like it. Had a 46 bow as my first reef tank, sumpless and skimmer less though. Beautiful tank and a lot you can do with it.

The only thing I hated was cleaning the bow. Thr curve on the front glass made even the best scrapers time consuming and a PITA for calcified algaes lol.

I drilled the back of this one and altered the stand it came with so I could fit a 29 under it. Hopefully it works out haha I want a bigger tank (have a 60 tall), but it’s hard to decide a good mid size lol.

I went from that to a 65 then back to the 46. Decided I wanted more depth and a 4 foot tank to open up more possibilities so ended up with a 90.

Now I kick myself for not getting a 120. Would be nice to have the extra depth. Whatever you have, it's never enough I tell ya lol.

120 was what I was thinking if I get another.....but lighting a 120 doesn’t sound very fun hahaha I’ve looked at reefbreeders and some maybe lumi lights or oreck or3s to supplement but my god it’s still gonna end up being super expensive hahaha....then I started thinking, 120gallons of salt, 120 additives hahahaha idk if I like ramen noodles that much anymore.

It is pricey for sure. I bought my stuff over 4 years, mostly due to kids and life but it really helped to spread out the cost lol. I went with the aquaticlife t5 hybrid and kessils. I bought the shorter rails to make the unit 16 wide instead of 18. On a 120 a 6 bulb hybrid would be great if they ever come out with one.

Everything seems to be going well so far. I started 2-7-2021. I have began to see some diatoms so I picked up my first tester corals (some cheap zoa frags with bright white diatom magnet plugs!), and added a peppermint shrimp and an emerald crab. I also picked up some frozen pods to feed the shrimp and crab until I see my living pods start to multiply. I haven’t ran the fuge light yet, but I think tonight will be the first night I’ll turn it on. Sea lettuce still looks deep green and seeded my tank with pods well (let’s hope it’s as “clean” as I was told). I’ll update as things happen!

@brandon429 I am officially one month in using skip cycle live rock. I put zoanthids and a fish straight in...I did have diatoms for two weeks (tank started 2/7)....2-14:2-28. The diatoms have officially died down and I am sitting at a stable 0.08phos and 2ppm nitrate. Just wanted to keep you updated on my cycle!

This is the first tank I’ve ran with filter socks. I just got more new ones and noticed my skimmer going crazy when I used the first one. They were from brs but they were the other brand so I got the brs brand and tried one today....same thing. I put all my new socks in the wash (which is kind of annoying). Is this normal?

2 month update pics. Everything is going great still....my parents had a crash so I took all their coral and am trying to bring it back.
