I'm looking into adding the white 48" G2 T5HO Hybrid unit to my current setup. I'm currently running 4 AI Hydra 32 HD's over my 150 gal (48"x30"x24"). I run my Hydras with the pucks positioned perpendicular to the front of the tank to give me better front to back coverage due to the 30" depth (see attached pic). According to your specs, the inside distance between the two T5 units where the LED unit mounts to is 7". My unit is 7.25" with how I would like to mount it. I've seen which appears to be marketing pictures of the Hydras mounted the way I would like. Can you confirm if this mounting arrangement will work? Also, will the new DX18 units be produced in white like the G2 units? Thanks.

Thanks for the consideration.

So a few details. The white Hybrid is only available in the G2 18" configuration. We did not make white 23.25" width accessories as most LED fixtures are black in the larger sizes.

The G2 hybrid would not fit the 7.25" length of the Hydra 32 down the center as the space is not enough. It would need to be widened to the 23.25" width to accommodate that setup. Unfortunately the 23.25" Decorative covers, endplates and LED brackets are only in black for that size.

The DX18 is not made in white and it too would not fit the Hydra in the center opening. The DX18 are not able to be widened as the wires from the front section to the back run through the sides of the fixture. So they are only available in the 18" dimension.

Good looking aquarium!!!

Let me know if you have additional questions.

Thanks for the quick response Dave. I can always rattle can the 23" decorative covers if need be. Just another quick question...do the 48" units in either models have enough LED mounting rails for 4 Hydra units?

If i remember correctly the Hydra have two screw points but in your situation that would mean the screws are front to back, not left to right. So you would technically only use one 24" LED bracket per Hydra, these would be purchased in addition to the 24" decorative covers. They are sold in pairs. So for the 4 Hydra you would want two pairs.

If they were mounted left to right you would use two LED brackets per Hydra.

All the 48" units have 3 pairs of LED brackets included but for 18" width. So you would need 1 more pair of 18" in the 18" width.

Hope this is making sense.

Ok…so I ordered the 48” hybrid unit. It looks like I’m missing the other half of the power cord. Is this something I’m supposed to purchase on my own?
